What's on your Monday Menu, RNYers?
Yes, but were you thumbs up or thumbs down on Little Feat?

i like to see people's menus because it gives me ideas, but more important than that is "seeing" people and getting and giving support!
Participate in the way that feels best for you, if posting menus/weight/calories causes you trouble then don't do those things, but you still have a lot to share!

hello all!
it's midnight here in Delhi. Depending on where you are in North America, we're app. 12 hours ahead of you. I was going to post earlier (like after dinner) when most of you were getting up and posting, but of course I fell asleep - and now I've been awake since 11:00 pm. Hopefully I can get into a more reasonable sleeping pattern soon...
so far I really like it here. We've only been out and about in Delhi one day (but more to come....), but I like it - it's chaotic, like Bangkok. People and traffic everywhere - cars, trucks, rickshaws, tuk tuks. No cows in the streets, though - I've heard that's now illegal in cities. Bright colors and great smells (from food, that is). Street vendors shoving various things in your face, wanting you to buy. Lots of street dogs who all appear to be of the same breed, but unlike other parts of southern Asia where I've visited, they don't seem emaciated. Evidently some people must give them food. Lots of homeless people, of course - but you see that everywhere, even in the US :-(
our hotel is just great. It's an Indian "homestay", which isn't a "homestay" like they mean in other countries, like Japan - it's more like an informal inn or maybe a hostel that has individual single and double rooms. They cook breakfast for you every morning (included in the room cost), and they'll prepare other meals as well if you ask and at an additional cost (and it's not very expensive). It's very cute in here, and the staff is wonderful.
there's pretty much no way I'm going to be able to plan my daily menu during the time i'm in India. All the places we stay will provide breakfast. We're on our own for the rest, but most of us are planning to just eat a big breakfast and then an early dinner -- and take small snacks with us when we're out and about (like protein bars and little individual bags of nuts). That totally works for me! So anyway, I'll just report in at the end of the day (which will be morning for most of you) and wrote what I ATE, rather than what I WILL eat...
Accountability was good yesterday even though I had about a cup of mango ice cream for dessert. If it weren't for that, I would have had a pretty low-calorie (for me) day. And we did a ton of walking.
4 years 4 months out:
B: one-egg omelet with paneer cheese, 2 samosas, papaya, 1/2 C yogurt, espresso with half & half
S: protein shake, protein bar
D: 1/4 C rice, c. 1/3 C dal, about a half cup of curried veggies, a piece of chapati (bread - sort of like naan - but smaller and no butter), a piece of papadum (that flat, wafer-like bread they serve as an appetizer at Indian restaurants), mango ice cream
lots of carbs - but if I can keep my calories in range, I should at least be able to maintain my weight. That's fine - as long as I don't gain!!! It's going to be impossible to reach my protein goals without supplementation - I didn't quite make it today even with a shake and a bar - although at least I was close. SO...these will be my snacks while I'm here.
have a great day, all!
