Haha, not sure if Grim got a pic of me working or not. We'll see if one appears on photo Friday, haha.

Hope Marilyn feels better! I'm always like that at the gym- I avoid going, but when I do I hit it hard and don't find out my boundaries until a day to late!

Great book list. I'm def interested in reading the Newby book. Thanks for the recommendation!

I tried chaffles for breakfast and they did not disappoint!

Mornin'!

That morning meeting yesterday really wiped me out, so I just took it easy the rest of the day. Thank God we don't have another one until mid-November. SO MUCH WORK to pull those off! Eating was OK up until the evening - so I had two servings of Trader Joe's High Fiber Cereal (with unsweetened cashew milk) to stop the food cravings. It worked - but put me over my calorie range for the day. I don't think I have any meals out for the next several days, so the struggle should be a lot easier. Basically, it's not too much of a struggle as long as I'm eating at home.

Today we're meeting the moms (my mom and DH's mom) for coffee. Before that I'm supposed to look over some paperwork that my mom wants me to look over, for some reason - and afterward we're going to hit at least one animal shelter so MIL can check out potential cats. I'm also thinking I should buy a pair of Sketchers for my India trip (they're light weight and multipurpose), but I may have to wait until later this week depending on the time. That trip is coming up quickly, though!

QOTD: I have a couple of books going right now - Sam Quinones' book on the opioid crisis (I've actually been reading this off & on for a couple of months) and a 1983 book about socioeconomic classes in the US. At first I thought the author of the latter book was really pretentious, but the more I read, the more I'm realizing he's being satirical. I have a couple of fiction books that I got from the public library (I normally don't read fiction, but I read a short story by this author (Gail Godwin) and really liked her), but there's no way I'm going to get to these before I go on my trip, so I'll have to check them out again later this fall.

4 years 3 months out:

B: protein pancakes with plain Greek yogurt and homemade strawberry/rhubarb compote, coffee with half & half

MS: protein shake

L: if we're out, probably just a protein bar. Otherwise salad with diced turkey and light dressing

D: either the salad with diced turkey or the last Beyond Meat bratwurst

ex: I'm hoping I can get to my favorite yoga class at 5:30!!

have a great day, all!

Would MIL take Janet's cat(s)?

I thought of Janet's cats right away when MIL said she wanted a cat - but she said she wasn't comfortable adopting a cat unless she could interact with it in person first. Crap. I'd take one of those cats in a minute if I didn't already have five of them - some with interfeline conflicts.

there was a woman at one of the shelters we went to who had two of her cats there - ages 8 and 11. It sounded like a situation somewhat similar to Janet's. I thought she was going to start crying a couple of times during our conversation. I felt absolutely terrible for her. She was really trying to interest us in her cats, but MIL said she wasn't quite ready yet. Double crap.

Bummer. I know... I would love to take them too, but two is our limit right now :(

Good afternoon all. Woke up this morning to cat puke all over my couch once again so had the lovely job of cleaning that up. I just don't understand. The vet says he's healthy. I've switched his food to a hair ball formula and I keep him brushed to try and prevent them, but he still throws up. I don't know if this is normal or not since I've never had any of my cats do this, but he is my first long haired cat so perhaps that's why. He does it about twice a month. So frustrating!

QOTD: I am still reading, but am almost finished with Wilderness Skills For Women: How To Survive Heartbreak And Other Full-Blown Meltdowns. And then also How To Walk Away. Would have finished the first book last night, but was way too tired to read so perhaps today.

B: premier shake

B: Coffee w/Splenda and sugar free creamer

L: L&F yogurt w/granola and banana

D: my sweet mother made me zoodle spaghetti w/homemade meatballs. So I'm super excited about that!

Some cats just seem to be pukers from my experience... Long hair doesn't help, but I have had short haired cat that do it too. My mom's cat is like a bulimic--she gorges herself then vomits every single day... It's so strange!

Yes, it's very strange! I think with my cat, it's a combination of hair balls and eating too fast/eating too much. I have stopped leaving food out all day for him and have started feeding him just a little bit at a time which has helped a little. He was quite grumpy when I first started doing this as he was used to having food at his convenience, but has since adapted. He does groom himself excessively though....more than any other cat I've owned.

In addition to regular brushing daily, I use the furminator on my long haired cat a few times a week. It removes more of the loose hair than a regular brush.

I also take her to the groomer, who trims the tips of her fur and makes it less flyaway. Gracie has a lot of really long and silky fur and tends to get hairballs and snarls, even with regular brushing.

Grooming every three months has really helped with the vomiting problem.
