Has anyone had issues with having grease in your bowel movements? I know normally after surgery we have issues with constipation. I was diagnosed with pcos 6 months ago and started on metformin 1000mg bid to try and help me become pregnant. Since starting metformin I no longer have constipation issues, but have been having grease in my stools. I told my doctor and now he is having me collect my stool for 72 hours. He states sometimes after surgery your pancreas doesnt absorb fat from your food and thats how your body gets rid of it. I loosely follow the keto diet so I do have a higher intake of fat with protein. Just wanted to see if I'm the only one with this issue.

I was on metformin for three years! During that time I had loose and sometimes greasy stools! I never ever had solid stools to after August 23rd of this year! I was taken off the metformin and now take stool softeners big game changer. But metformin will give you diarrhea and or loose stools. I'm glad im off of it because I was constantly taking vitamin D

Yes as Tracy said metformin will give you diarrhea. It particularly happens when on a higher dose. I've been on it for the past 7 or so years.

It can cause both side effects.
