What's on your (BEFORE & AFTER PHOTO) Friday Menu, RNYers?

HAPPY FRIIIIDAAAAAAYYYY! I hope you all had a great week! Personally, I am happy this one is ending. It wasn't a terrible week, but poor sleep at the beginning of the week really threw everything off. We are taking an all day woodworking class tomorrow, though, so no rest for the weary, lol. It should be fun, though!
One of the reasons I wanted to do a before/after was because I stumbled upon a before pic of myself, and when I first saw it, I literally didn't recognize myself!. I just transferred my photos from an old computer to a new one, and iPhoto created new picture albums automatically. So the pic below says September 2019 because that's when the computer made the album, but the pic is really from 2015, literally 2.5 weeks after RNY! It inspired me to try to find similar before and after pics of myself. Here we go!
Before (right after RNY, 2015):
After (2018):
Before lapband (2007):
After (August 2019):
Before lapband. This one remind me of the cat "round is a shape!" (2008):
After (last weekend):
Before lapband (2008):
After (last weekend--new haircut!):
Accountability: Blah. Not as bad as the day before, but I ran out of energy to make dinner last night and ended up just microwaving a burrito with too many carbs.
QOTD: What made you choose the surgery type you picked? 11 years ago, I opted for the lapband. I had a friend from college who had it first, and she looked amazing. Plus I was sucked into all of the marketing about it (it's adjustable... it's removable... it's safer than invasive surgery...) and all the rest of the BS that came with it. When it was time for a revision, I looked at all of the data and realized that RNY is really the tried and true surgery. Even though it was less popular than VSG, I wanted a surgery that had years and years of data, not another "new" surgery type. Now lots of people are revising from VSG, so I am happy with my choice.
My menu is incomplete because I am going out to dinner with a friend and we haven't chosen a restaurant yet.
Exercise: nada...no time :(
LET'S SEE YOUR BEFORE AND AFTER PICS (even if you are still in progress). I remember seeing before and afters of people on this board when I was a few weeks before surgery and it really gave me the inspiration and strength I needed to take the leap. Let's pay it forward!
- High Weight before LapBand: 200 (2008)
- High Weight before RNY: 160 (2015)
- Lowest post-op weight: 110 (2016)
- Maintenance Weight: 120 (2017-2019)
- Battling Regain Weight: 135 (current)
Oh Happy Day! It's Friday! It's been a LONG week. HR problems with employees at work, an unexpected day working from home because my kid passed out (she's 100% fine, no worries). If not for the fact I have to run 10 miles tomorrow morning I'd be looking forward to a lazy weekend.
QOTD: Honest answer: I chose VSG because I was afraid of dumping. Although I'm happy with my decision and I'm lucky to be almost 3-years out without any GERD issues, post surgery me now thinks that pre-surgery me was a little weeny. However, I can't complain as VSG got me quickly to goal and I don't have any side effects at this point. If I do at some point suffer with GERD I won't hesitate to revise.
Both of these pictures are from 2010, I believe which was around my highest weight. I went on to drop 90lbs from here and then put 30-40lbs back on before deciding to have VSG.
Both of these are from August 2019

I wouldn't have believed those before pics are you!! What a difference!
Happy your daughter is OK. Do you know why she passed out? My daughter passes out when it's too hot or high elevations (skiing). Just recently (she is 21) she has figured out the iron deficiency and just by taking a multi vitamin is feeling 100% better.

She is the most squeamish kid on the face of the earth. She passed out changing her earrings (she got them pierced in April but just recently started changing them). This is the 2nd time it's happened!

I don't know if she's had her period yet, but check her iron. My daughter gets sick to her stomach and feels like passing out if she doesn't eat every 2-3 hours or if she doesn't sleep enough. She was complaining to me that at college all her friends make fun of her because she is not leading a wild life (gotta eat healthy, gotta sleep 8 hrs). I had her Dr check her Ferretin and the dr said it's good. It was at 23!!! This is a healthy 21 year old!
So I got her the chewable multis from TJ and now back at school she says she feels 100% better.
Not saying your daughter has the same deficiencies but keep an eye on these passing outs. My daughter started when she was around 10.

Oh, my word! I love seeing the pictures and I have to find time to get back here today to look at more!
I am completely exhausted but Open House at school was a success. No parents yelled at us this year, so it is all good. This weekend will be busy, tomorrow I am taking my mother to the beach/boardwalk and Sunday we are going to the Hershey RV show.
Accountability: candy was involved.
QOTD: I had a lapband in 2007 and ten years later had such bad acid reflux/GERD symptoms that my doctor said it had to go. It was instant relief after that thing was removed and then I revised to rny. Best.Decision.Ever.
B: Hardboiled egg and blackberries
L: leftover chicken and cauliflower with hummus
D: I think spaghetti squash with meat sauce
I made it to over 100 ounces of water the past few days and have my vitamins ready to go. I hope I don't collapse after work and get to take a walk.
DH and I in 2011, we both had lapbands in this picture.
I think this was 2015 in South Carolina...
The last two are from this past summer. We both had rny and have roughly lost over 200 combined.
Have a great weekend!
You can't measure your achievements with someone else's yardstick!
