Eating out soon after surgery
Try Syntrax. They are mostly or all lactose free and make single serving pouches that are easy to order online.

I went on a business trip 3 weeks after surgery. I was worried that people would notice I was barely eating anything, but no one cared :) I packed single serve packets of protein powder and a shaker bottle and shook up a shake for breakfast everyday. I walked to a CVS and got some light and fit greek yogurt for the room fridge. I ordered an appetizer or a soup at dinner. No one noticed or cared :) I would not try new things that soon after surgery, as someone said - you might think "well chicken is high protein, let me have a few bites" but if your pouch doesn't like it, you will end up with the foamies (a slimy foam in your throat) or worse, having to throw up in the restaurant bathroom. Been there, done that...not so fun!
I was fine both energy-wise and food-wise traveling soon after surgery, but everyone is different.
Have fun!
You can mix all of them with water -- but many will taste like ass if you do. Generally speaking, the chocolate, vanilla, etc all taste better with milk. Syntax makes a bunch ty at really should be mixed with water. They have coffee and tea flavors, but I liked the lemonade and fruit punch. And mixing with water saves some calories.
Any powder that is 100 percent whey protein isolate is lactose free. But if you mix it with regular milk, it won't be.

If I were you, I would get the sample pack of Syntrax nectars. They have fruity ones like Roadside Lemonade that people like. And that mix with water.
I was obsessed for about two years with Chike High Protein Iced Coffee powder. Got it on amazon in a tub and mixed it with ice and water. It tastes like a sweet iced coffee! It's delicious. So then you just put a scoop in a ziplock snack baggie for travel. Looks weird to go through security with like 10 baggies of powder, but oh well! LOL!
You will save a lot of money being in Vegas and not eating or drinking!
This is such a great idea. I thought I was going to have to track down lactose free milk on the Vegas strip. Probably impossible and would have required an Uber to a grocery store.
This is perfect.
I already warned my friends that I won't be able to eat but would love to join them for so. We. It may be a little tough to not partake, but I'm completely confident I can do it. I've been through this before with the lapband.
Honestly, I didn't even find it tough those first six months or even year. In my mind, I was singularly focused on getting to goal. I weighed my food (once I was back on solids), packed my meals up for work, abstained from even a sip of alcohol - I was a machine. It didn't even occur to me to partake. Which got me to goal super fast. In just under a year I went from 350 to 160 (and I am female). It is the ongoing maintenance now that I am in year 5 when it gets tough. Don't muck around before you get to goal, and certainly not at 3.5 weeks out. They might be eating fried shrimp or pizza or a burger. It's not like you won't ever enjoy those things again - you will, but in smaller quantities and with less frequency. Or, you will do things like if burgers are your go-to thing, you will make meatballs. Or if you love pizza, a low carb wrap with sauce and cheese and pepperoni. There are lots of hacks to make things fit into a high protein low carb diet, for once you get to goal. So if you can, get the idea of "wanting to partake" out of your mind and just go have a great time!
The thing is Ur insides r still healing ( till eight weeks post op at least ) . So if you get tempted and succumb ... very dangerous even deadly .
I did have a once per year worldwide convention scheduled in Vegas shortly after my surgery ( a month ... six weeks ? ) I was definitely not yet on normal foods and it was only three days .... i rented a car ... bought a cooler for 3 bucks filled it with free hotel ice n went to the grocery store where I bought : yogurt , skim milk and I " borrowed " some styrofoam cups and tops from a seven-eleven . I used these and the milk to make protein shakes ... kinda worked . The yogurt was better ... if I remember correctly I called my surgeons office and they told me I could try scrambled eggs off the free breakfast buffet ... def didn't starve .. ((())hugs
