Purchase a smoothie maker or not?

My surgery date is 9/13. I am considering getting a smoothie maker, but am not certain I will use it that much or not. They seem to be really useful for blending vegetables and fruit. However, I know that fruit will not be a big part of the diet after surgery.....nor long term. Do you think it would be worth it to have one early on....and for years out? Thanks.

No. No smoothies, ever. Youll probably be drinking protein shakes for a while right after surgery, but you don't need a machine for those.

Long term, the biggest mistake you can make is drinking calories. The closest you can get to zero daily calories in beverages, the better off you'll be.

Listen to Grim! I've had blenders over the years and honestly i ended up throwing them out. its a hassle to use them and clean them anyway. you'll be better off just finding a powder you can make in a shaker cup or a pre-made shake. personally i try to streamline my time in the kitchen and not over-complicate my routine.

I have a little bottle blender thing I use to make crushed ice and sf frappes. Frankly I use it about 2-3 times a month. Sometimes more. If I didn't have it I wouldn't miss it. It was a gift or else I wouldn't of bought it.

Grim is right on, we should drink as little of our calories as possible.

I bought a Magic Bullet blender for the shakes and I like it better than a blender bottle. I could add ice in it and have it kind of crush the ice and mix together with the shake. I also liked it in the soft food stage for pureeing soups and stews. It was only a $50 purchase though. I still use it occasionally but not much. You can definitely get by without one.
