What's on your Monday Menu, RNYers?
on 9/2/19 2:28 am
Happy Labor Day! What are you all up to today? I can't believe I was still awake at 4am. My body just loves mornings way too much!
I am heading into Boston to meet up with a friend this morning (plans tbd) then later this evening I am heading to John's daughter's house to celebrate her birthday! It should be a fun day.
ICYMI - I added a sign up sheet to the September 50 Mile Challenge!
Accountability: I ran about 4 miles in the morning, and ate on plan, except for the spoonful of frosting that ended up in my mouth while decorating the birthday cake:/
QOTD: What is a sound you love to hear? I am going to go with ocean waves crashing, followed by chirping crickets. Can you tell I love summer?
I am only 50% sure that this is what's for dinner. There is a chance that instead of going to her house and grilling, we will go out to dinner, instead. I will try to readjust the rest of the menu as needed to accommodate, if that's the plan. I didn't put cake on my menu either because I am hoping for the strength to avoid it entirely, but if I can't it will only be a bite.
Exercise: Planning for 2 miles this morning.
- High Weight before LapBand: 200 (2008)
- High Weight before RNY: 160 (2015)
- Lowest post-op weight: 110 (2016)
- Maintenance Weight: 120 (2017-2019)
- Battling Regain Weight: 135 (current)
Mornin'!
yesterday was great. The memorial service was very nice, and I spent a lot of quality time with my stepsiblings & their families afterward at my stepmother's (and father's) house. I really didn't know them well before - well, I'd only met my stepsister but never really spent any time with her. The rest I'd never met before. Very nice people. I brought a bunch of my father's stuff back to my brother's house. Most of his stuff we already have, but my stepsister found more of it while going through the house this past week. My brother doesn't want most of it - and I can't take much on the plane, so I guess I'll be driving down here at some point to pick it up. Luckily he has a back porch (with storm windows) that he can stick it on in the mean time...
eating wasn't great yesterday - I overdid it a bit at the reception after the service, and then my stepsister's husband offered me half of his Impossible Whopper last night (I didn't put in an order for Burger King when he announced he was going - but when he got back and said he'd gotten himself an Impossible Whopper, I mentioned that I'd been wanting to try one of those. Ta da! He cut his in half and offered me a half. I caved. It was very good!). Anyway, I ended up at 2000 kcal for the day. Oddly, I was down another pound this morning. Water. That makes two full pounds down since I got here. I was pretty waterlogged...)
today I'm meeting my friend Matt again at 10:00. He's the one I had coffee with the other day. Not sure what he has in mind for us to do, but he did mention going up on the Blue Ridge Parkway - so probably something along there.
QOTD: I also like ocean waves. And late summer cricket, cicada, frog, whatever sounds. And I love meditating to those Tibetan singing bowls. Ah...ear candy!
4 years 2 months out:
B: Greek yogurt with blueberries, coffee with half & half
MS: protein shake or bar
L: I'll be with Matt - so not sure. I'll take a protein bar with me just in case
AS: ??
D: I have some leftover pulled pork and half a Beyond Burger in the fridge, so one of those
have a great day, all!
Good morning menu friends! Quick post before we start work. Accountability was spot on food and stepwise yesterday and weight is 121.8. LIly and I will take several walks today and here's the food plan B2/3c earnest eats hot cereal L 4 oz deli chicken and cheese D 4 oz grilled shrimp and 2 slices tomato. Have a wonderful day full of healthy choices everyone!
Good morning, everybody!
I am on my own for a couple of hours this morning. Marilyn is playing tennis and the boys are sleeping. I have a couple of things that I should do/need to do in the next few weeks, but we will see. If my sons want to do anything fun today, I will probably put those household tasks aside and pick them up later. Later on, I have negotiated with Marilyn to get a break from the US Open so that I can watch the Notre Dame football game tonight.
I have my phone up and working, email is connected and I think its ready to go. I got a charging pad, so that I can lay the phone on the pad at the end of the day rather than having to plug it in. A perfect place for the charging pad would be in the nightstand spot currently occupied by my CPAP. Crossing my fingers for that when the home sleep test comes back this week.
Last week, I told my surgeon's PA that I may be interested in getting a little bit of work done on my neck and face so she wrote a referral to the cosmetic surgeon that they work with. Within about 4 hours, I already had a call from the hospital's scheduling department to make that appointment. I was so excited to be almost through with Doctors appointments for 2019 that it is hard to call back. I my try and make it for 2020, which i know is totally arbitrary.
QOTD: When my daughter was first born, I used to love the sound of her crying. It doesn't take long before those little baby cries get a lot louder and more jarring though.
Breakfast: Turkey meatballs and cottage cheese
Snack: Protein bar
Lunch: Hamburger
Snack: Jerky
Dinner: TBD
Have a great day, all!

Exciting to get a PS appointment.
Be sure to ask to see his/her work on men - it's not the same as women and you don't want to end up in Kenny Rogers or Pete Burns' territory!
Also, don't let them talk you into doing more than you want - if you only want neck/lower face, stick with that! It's tempting to get add ons because it's cheaper than several ops, but you can't go back if you're not happy.
Face work is risky because you have no way of hiding imperfections and it's easy to end up with nerve problems (I had a palsy for 6-8 weeks and now have TGN which is debilitating during a flare up). Make sure you are confident in your surgeon.

Thanks, this whole issue seems so much more stressful than the WLS.
We had our family portrait painted last year and I told them to edit out my turkey neck because I was going to get it fixed eventually.

Good morning~ I resemble that meme!! I am so thankful for this 3 day weekend! Yesterday was a super productive day. I love when I have those days where I get so much done- like all those little things you've been meaning to do including shopping and getting a bunch of things you didn't know you were missing in your life but needed! It was a good day. Today will be a go where the wind blows kind of day - no plans, no chores so who knows?!
QOTD - Rain - loud, pounding rain. I had a tin roof outside my bedroom through jr and sr. high school and loved the sound on the rain when it hit. Now when my thoughts won't shut off or there is noise I can't block out, I use the relax app to an play a pouring rain combo as loud as it will go and blissfully fall asleep. I also love the ocean, any moving water sounds really.
Accountability - I ate a soft taco size flour tortilla with cheese
This last week has been such a failure for me food wise. I will never give up and will get back on track today. I also plan to participate in the 50 mile September challenge.
