September MOVE Challenge
on 9/1/19 8:55 am
Hi OHers!
Here is something I have learned about myself-- I have a really had time motivating to get myself into an exercise routine unless there is a competitive aspect to it. I need a tangible goal to achieve otherwise I will not get my butt off the couch! For awhile I tried training for a 1/2 marathon, but honestly, I don't think that is the right goal for me. Maybe down the line, but now now...
So, if you read the Menu Thread, you know that mid-month, I thought it would be unto see if I could finish August by running 50 miles. Whomp Whomp. Turns out that starting a month long goal late in the month, right before starting a new job was sot of dumb! I ended up with 32 miles.
So, I am here to try to make it happen in September, and I am inviting you all to virtually join me! You can walk or run--whatever stage of exercise you are in. But let's knock out 50 miles together in the month of September! That averages to 1.6 miles a day.
I made a shared document that you can add your name to, and add your miles for each day. I will check back in with a new post every Sunday to remind you to update your miles, if you haven't and give each other some encouragement.
Who will join me!?!?
- High Weight before LapBand: 200 (2008)
- High Weight before RNY: 160 (2015)
- Lowest post-op weight: 110 (2016)
- Maintenance Weight: 120 (2017-2019)
- Battling Regain Weight: 135 (current)
For anybody curious, the conversions that I have usually heard are: 1 mile run = 1600 meter row = 4 mile bike = 400 Meter swim (16 lengths of most gym pools)

I think I have too much travel in September so I won't be joining this one:-(. I considered it but pretty sure I'd be an immediate fail.

I'm in !!! Random fun, weirder than fantasy fact: I actually USED to be a "runner"...I did my FIRST half-marathon, The First Annual Princess HM, at Disneyworld, with my 3 besties, in 2008...I was already over the age of 50, THEN...so "never say never"...I went on do other Half-Marathons, and countess 5Ks, etc...never the elusive MARATHON...but...that's okay !!!
Nowadays, I don't really RUN...more of a fast lurch...sometimes odd crawl thing...but I need some motivation, so I'm willing to TRY, again!
As far as the spread sheet...I'd be better off trying to run the Kenyan marathon...JB- would you be willing to be my scribe?????
RNY 4-22-02...
