What's on your Monday Menu, RNYers?

I'm a big booster for the MY PILLOW (as I put in my menu post). Just a point to note about the differences. I've had both (retail and premium), returning the ones I got from BB&B in favor of the premium direct purchase from the mfg. First, you get to choose more of a range of firmness. I got the Blue extra firm and it was too much for me. Then went down to the Green for my side pillows and Yellow for my back. I had my chiropractor check and she agreed I had it right. You don't get that range of selection at BB&B. There are sizing guides on line that tie to the premium pillows. Plus as a side sleeper the premium has flat edges (larger gusset) that rests better against my shoulder area than the one they make for retail sales. The price difference with one of their promos isn't that different, so I think the premium is worth the upgrade.

Even if it is the best pillow in the whole wide world, I cannot give that man my money. He should be paying ME for the amount of time I have spent trying to get that jingle out of my head!!!!!!!!

Hey guys, happy monday...
I am going to have to come back to read everyone's posts later but just a quick post and run for me today.

Speaking of run...I did it, guys. I started running. Well, I guess it's really more like slow jogging, but I did it!
Story was asking me on Thursday if we could go jogging (weird I know) so I told her after we got home from our walk that we could go on Friday after I got home. She did not forget. haha.

Friday's jog was rough because she was crabby and complained the whole time, we stopped a lot and then she made me give her a piggy back ride for a while because her legs were tired (we didn't even go half a mile before she was complaining haha)...so Saturday morning when I was up early I really wanted to try again. I planned on going solo but she BEGGED to come with me. So I made a deal with her that she couldn't stop and make me take any breaks and she was going to have to keep up with me. She agreed and she did really well! We obviously didn't run fast, we kept a really slow pace and ended up going just over a mile and a half in about 30 minutes.
I was shocked at my stamina to be completely honest.
I have never once in my life been able to run a mile without stopping. not even half a mile really...not even slowly.
I seriously felt like I could have kept going indefinitely if my KNEES weren't screaming at me. I was not out of breath, I was not tired...but my knees were killing me after about a mile...I have realized how old I am and how much damage I probably did to my joints from being obese for like 35 years...so I rested yesterday but today they are feeling mostly back to normal. I don't want to pu**** but I really did enjoy the jogging!
It's pretty rainy today so I might just use my elliptical tonight if it's still wet later but I have decided to start working toward a 5K and my DH wants to join me...he really wants to train for one of those obstacle course type things like spartan or whatever they are but I told him to let me start off small hahaha.

Anywho, I managed to get my weight back down to my lowest over the weekend and I hope I can keep it on a downward trend. hoping the running will help!

That's great! You should be so proud of the support you get from your family. I wish my DH would take interest in exercise.

Way to go on the jogging, that's awesome!

I did a 5k mud run a few months ago, and it's actually not that bad for the jogging bits because you get to stop so frequently. You run a little bit, then you stop and wait your turn for the obstacle :)

Yay for running! Awesome job! Join me in a redo of the 50 Mile Challenge in September?

I highly recommend getting fitted for the right running shoes, if you are already having knee pain. I finally took the time to get fitted and it has made a world of difference on my weak ankles, which I presume are also in bad shape because of prior weight issues.

I have a friend who is in a running club through Dick Pond and she recommended I go there to be properly fitted for shoes. I think I will check it out but I need to save some $ because I know they will be pricey!
I am currently wearing a pair of New Balance shoes I've had for probably like 8 years and are too big on me now, so I know I need better shoes!
