What's on your Thursday Menu, RNYers?

Waiving helps the college know that the recommendations are honest and not influenced by the student (and parents) reading and judging the quality of the letter. I see no reason not to do it! If he's concerned that person isn't going to say something nice, they shouldn't be the recommender anyway!

Thanks, JB. I was planning to sign and this reinforces it. As for my son, he is not concerned about much except that we get him his Starbucks drink and Dunkin Donuts egg sandwich in the morning.

Now I understand...maybe it's different from state to state because all of the recommendations from high school are sealed and not viewed by the student here in CA. In fact we were surprised when one of DD's AP teachers gave her a copy of the letter.

our university placement office (back in the Dark Ages) also recommended that we waive our rights to read recommendation/reference letters that we had professors write for our placement files for the same reason - so they'd be more honest. But with all the lawsuits re: job references in recent years, I think most people are afraid to say anything negative these days.
JB is right - if your son feels someone might give a negative recommendation, then don't ask that person to write a letter.
Good morning all! Very quick post before I head off to work. I'm still so sleepy. Kept waking up looking at the time all night. Hate when I do that.
QOTD: in the break room at work we have a window overlooking a pond, trees and walking trails and you'll see lots of geese and ducks out there and even an occasional alligator. That is one reason I never walk the trails on my lunch break as I've heard too many co-workers stories of seeing a snake or an alligator. But I love sitting by that window while eating my lunch.

Hi Julia and all!
Im on a business trip so the eats area but up in the air, although I'm at the hotel breakfast area and they have an omelette station and turkey bacon so I'm good! I always have to ask them to use less oil and make it small. I don't need an omelette the size of my head!
QOTD: even after 12 years in DC (and now just outside), I never get tired of the view of the monuments when you're crossing into the city. It's so beautiful!
B: small cheese omelette and 2 pieces turkey bacon
l: in our office cafeteria where they have a salad station, hot station, sushi etc.
d: I'm going out to dinner with Anny Bannany since she lives nearby! I'm ditching the work dinner :)
Have a great day, everyone!
