What's on your Monday Menu, RNYers?
Good afternoon. Weekend was less than on plan and my blood sugar was high again. I really need to get the message in my head that I am bringing back my diabetes and clean it up. Weight holding steady at 185.
QOTD - I recently tried a SF cheesecake recipe on a bariatric site. It was tasty, but very very bitter from the fake sugar. In the end, it might be worth every once in a while, but not regular consumption. So I guess I'd prefer not getting the sugar spike, but these fake sugars just keep my bad habits alive. I'm better off using more natural foods for treats. Maybe I'll get that in my head some day ;)
B - 2 egg, sausage
L - Small salad, chicken, mustard based dressing
S - Orange, 1oz dried salami
D - 1/4 cup chili, 3oz chicken (chill more of a sauce) - I'll put that all on top of a small salad
S - I'm going cold turkey on the evening treats. I think 25% of my sugar spike is the Mango I'm eating. Yes, the other 75% and bigger issue is the diet ice cream bars (that still have some added sugars) and dried fruits..... I delayed my morning workout to evening to keep me busy when I get home vs. TV watching. I feel like I need a week of evening distractions to end my pattern of snacking. Thankfully the amount is low enough that I'm holding steady on my weight. I've been within 3 pounds plus or minus since May.

Yesterday wasn't a great day for me accountability wise. Had popcorn at the movie theater and then a hot roll with butter when I was out to dinner with family. So this week it's back on track for me.
QOTD: I don't really eat anything sugar free or fat free. I do however like the sugar free Russell Stover chocolate candy.....although I try not to buy them too often and try to limit myself to 1-2 pieces per week because chocolate is my weakness. Also the sugar free fudgesicles are a nice treat when I'm craving ice cream, but again I try to limit those. Other than that I stay away from sugar free or fat free versions of recipes of unhealthy treats.

L: boars head ovengold turkey
S: banana
D: black bean and corn salad
S: L&F Greek yogurt (pumpkin pie flavor which I'm curious to try.)

QOTD: forgot to mention I do use light or fat free salad dressings too. But as for sour cream, cottage cheese, cheese etc....no. It's just nasty to me and I'd rather not eat those things at all than to eat the fat free versions. I also notice the fat free or low fat cheeses seem to spoil faster as well so I don't waste my money on them anymore.

Had a great weekend but back to work again today. QOTD I've made the premier mini muffin cheese cakes and a no bake carrot cake that I actually can limit to one portion a day. I do not use FF products because most are higher in sugar and carbs to make up for the lack of fat. I do use stevia and recently bought swerve it is a natural sugar sub that you can use the = to what is called for in sugar. I used it to make Thai cucumbers and they turned out great.
ok my weight has been holding steady and I seem to be dropping about 2 Lbs a month I have been very lacks on the gym so I'll get back to that tomorrow. Liquids and vitamins are always in line.
