Hi everyone,

I've posted about my journey so far in detail. You may go dig my profile if you like.

Short update:

I've been seeing some specialists since my panic attacks started. My cardiologist said my heart is perfectly fine, in fact I need to exercise more! My blood work came back fine, all within normal ranges. Process of elimination lead me back to my RnY. I had tests, everything looked great except they found a blind loop or 'candy cane'. This is when the surgeon leaves a section of the small bowel attached and food can get into it. They think that's what's happening. So they are removing it.

The last 9 weeks I've made significant changes to my diet in prep for this surgery and I have to tell you it has made a big difference. I stepped up my exercise, I went back to basics with my food eating and wow. I had a drastic reduction of symptoms leading to panic attacks. No panic attacks what so ever. I was even losing weight!

I'm still having the blind loop surgery, it's tomorrow, my surgeon says it's not going to hurt anything and that it can only help. The research I've done confirms that.

If anyone had this, is going through this, has advice, please chime in.

I had RnY October 2007.

I remembered seeing a post about this a while back, so I did a forum search. Since both "candy" and "cane" separately are common terms, I put the entire phrase in quotes. I don't know if any of these posts will be of any help, but here's a link to them just in case:

I had the surgery, all is well. I'm recovering this and next week.

I'm doing the 1 ounce sips of clear liquids, moving on to full liquids later today until my post op appt on the 3rd.

I'm doing really well. Had the weird shoulder pain a bit but all that's fine now. Now I have the itchy wounds that I want to rub all the time. I see my doctor on the third, this is week two of recovery.

I'm on full liquids. 2oz every 30 min with water in between. I'm going between decaf coffee, almond milk, bone broth, premiere protein shake, condensed cream of chicken soup, protein powder and SF jello cups for variety.

I'm up and walking every 3 hours a half mile around the block.

I'm not hungry, just getting bored now.
