Ha I called it on the nightmare that is Great Woods traffic, did I not? I hate that it ruins everything. Glad the concert and trip were otherwise good though!

Happy 1st day! I hope it all goes well and the train connections went okay. Love your Maine pics, what a wonderful way to end your time off. I can't wait to see the finished bowl, I have very weak hands/wrists and my grip strength is crap so I don't think I could even get started let along carve a whole bowl!
QOTD: I started the job I am currently in 14 years ago... I love where I work so I don't see me moving around and will most likely retire from this job.
Accountability: Was great all weekend and then this white chocolate chunk macadamia nut cookie just jumped into my mouth last evening, I showed that cookie who's Boss and ate it up in record time!

I have joked that it's just my lack of grip strength that's holding me back from being an American Ninja Warrior star. I bet if I kept up the woodworking, I wouldn't be able to use that as an excuse anymore!

Good luck on your new job, JB! I am cracking up that you'll be 1.5 hours early. That is sos me.
I hear you on the "don't ask what I ate"...I got home from a week Long Beach vacation on Saturday and flew to Mexico yesterday. Nothing was consumed in large quantity but I wouldn't say I was on plan...
Luckily I'm here for the week with a healthy coworker so I think we won't go off the rails. I do know I will be enjoying copious amounts of guacamole but that's about all I know.
I started my current job five years and two weeks ago! I just got my five year "gifts" - we get a certain number of points and can order from a special amazon link. I got a six egg cooker, and a large air fryer! I love my small one so much. I don't need both but I needed a bigger one.
FWIW, I hated my job initially. And now I LOVE it. So even if the first few weeks are a bit bumpy and it takes time to make a "lunch friend", hang in there :)
My menu is totally up in the air but just saying hi!
Em
Mornin'!
congrats again on your new job, JB. Is this another principal job? I hope this is a lot less stressful than your former one. It sounds like pretty much anything would be an improvement over that last one, though! Yikes!
I started my last job almost 18 years ago (retired a year ago). Oddly, it was kind of a tough transition, even though I desperately wanted out of my previous job and was very excited to start the new one. New environment, new co-workers, new responsibilities, new office - I think change has gotten more difficult to adjust to the older I've gotten. Although once I settled in, I was about a billion times happier. I actually enjoyed going to work every day and no longer dreamed about retirement years before I was eligible! So..it was a good move.
we're supposed to get torrential rains this afternoon and this evening, so I'll need to get out this morning if there are things I need to do (like...exercise) and batten down the hatches later.
accountability was good yesterday after three or four days of not-so-good (not bad choices - just too much (a lot of eating out)). Today will be a good day, too!
4 years 2 months out:
B: protein pancakes topped with plain Greek yogurt and homemade fruit compote, coffee with half & half
MS: protein shake
L: either salad with diced turkey breast or pulled pork with veggies
AS: light yogurt and/or baby carrots with ranch Greek yogurt
D: whatever I don't have for lunch, I'll have for dinner
have a good day, everyone!

Nope, no more principaling for me right now! I'm staying with Boston Public Schools and will have a portfolio of 35 schools to support their principals with staffing/hiring needs. It's s big job but it's going be a lot more manageable. Also, I'm going to focus on a lot more work life balance and make sure I can focus on taking better care of myself, no matter how busy it gets...
