What are you eating RNYERS Thursday

Good morning. Didn't do my fruit only last night and ate few cookies - boooo. Just need to stay focused. Not sure why I was craving cookies last night. Really no reason. So I figure I'll stay focused and not beat myself up for slips - unless they happen too much. Weight holding steady.

QOTD - Water for me at work is not an issue, maybe a little on the weekend a little. My program demands you carry water at all times while awake. For some reason, that stuck. I try to get up and stretch every hour, so the kitchen/break area is just far enough away. So I'm always with a drink in hand (tea, water, crystal light type drink). I figure I'm drinking more than enough given how often I use the restroom on my stretches. My NUT (the great one, before she left to start her own program) told me that if I'm very diligent the 30 min rule really is 10 before and 15 to 20 after. They use the 30 rule because it is easier to remember. That really narrows the gap to something very manageable for me. I guess my weight loss struggle other than night time grazing would be portion size. I think I'm eating too many fruits and vegetables. My salads have gotten too big so I need to watch that more and many cut back on the quantity by measuring that category. Right now I only weigh starch carbs and protein. I'm still eating the smallest salad in town, but i think it could be cut by a third. I have started by only eating 2/3rds of any portion of vegetables and taking half the fruit I would like to consume. I'm just as satisfied, so I think I can do this. My weight loss surgery buddy commented a few weeks ago that he thinks I'm eating too much, even if I'm holding steady or losing slowly (vs. program reco - which is never to go above 1.3 cups of food at any meal. My salads are about that size, not including the protein and then I add a small apple, etc.

PWO - 2/3 cup oatmeal with protein powder added, 2 small pcs. mango

B - 2 large eggs and sausage link

L - Salad, chicken burger (1/2 patty), mini baby bel

S - mini baby bel; low sugar yogurt with tsp seeds

D - small salad, beef enchilada (real food)

S - cup of frozen berries

Ex - 10 min row; 50 min trainer - am PM plan to ride the Peloton

HW 510 / SW 424/ GW 175 (stretch goal to get 10 under) / CW 160 (I'm near the charts ideal weight - wonder if I can stay here)

I know the mindset of overeating could happen with any food. But I know I didn't get overweight eating too many veggies.

QOTD- Just doing it everyday even though the novelty has worn off. Logging my food, getting in my workouts and finding the motivation to keep going.

Jim- I believe everything would be easier if we were retired.

It was cool enough that I did 2.34 mile walk yesterday after work. Today it's raining but it's more like a mist so if I can't get outside I'll get on the dreadmill.

Accountability was pretty good. I ended with 804C, 67P, 24F & 84C. The scale stayed the same which was surprising because I didn't get all of my water in. I will be better today.

Happy Friday Eve everyone! Hope all of you have a great day!

Hi all! Day 10 postop VSG to RNY and I'm feeling a bit woozy, but definitely better. Talked to the surgeon yesterday and he said everything looks great, he even cleared me to go in the pool if I want, so I may go walk some laps in the pool gym this afternoon if I'm feeling up to it. I did push a bit too hard yesterday, though, so I want to be careful.

QOTD: My current struggle is (surprise!) protein. I really struggle with protein drinks, I just can't choke them down. I just decided to try Fairlife milk and it's actually really good, I love to drink plain milk, so I'm going to see if I can just use that instead. One cup is 80cal and 14g protein, so nearly as good as a shake! I'm also getting really darn dick of Gatorade Zero, so I picked up some Propel to try instead today. Hooray variety!

Chows today (10 days post-op, soft food stage):

B: Fairlife milk

L: Half of a scrambled egg

D: Canned chicken breast with a little bit of Miracle whip

E: Maybe a short walk at the gym?

Happy to hear things are moving along for you!! I had a hard time with protein shakes too - I still can't go there now. Post op the only way I could get them down was to partially freeze them until they were icy. They weren't so bad that way.

I don't know if you would consider this but when I was struggling with liquids\protein during the healing phase and was tired of PP, my RD said 1 oz fairlife chocolate to 5 oz fairlife skim for change up.

I never really looked at it that way with the Fairlife. I am using it for coffee so I drink 2%. The skim is really a good choice if you like it.

So glad you are recovering well.

I liked the chicken broth protein for a change. I liked Unjury brand or unflav isopure with my own broth.

the trick is warm not hot

I am so ready for this week to be OVER!! Bein fon Friday!! Good luck with you sales push!! You can do it!!

qotd - this week I feel like I'm struggling with everything, everything!! If I had to pick one, I've slacked on exercise this week to the nth degree and I need to get back on track. This would also be my accountability note.

today I'm meeting friends to see Billy Joel at Coors field, assuming the projected storms hold off! Hoping they do, I'm really looking forward so this!

Coffee and tea for fluids

b - 1 egg, .5 oz cheddar

l - cottage cheese

d - tbd - we are going to biker Jim's hot dogs and there are so many options. Will probably go for elk-cheddar-bacon but maybe the jackalope. What would you pick?
