Exercise?

Just a quick question about exercise.

Do you do it every day? Every other day?

I'm a little in the dark about what I should & shouldn't do.

thanks!

I exercise 4 times a week, tues/thurs and sat/sun. Anything else is just a bonus. Looks like you're over a year out-- you should do whatever you enjoy most so it's easy to adapt to.

I make sure I do something everyday, even if just a walk through Walmart in bad weather. Mostly I swim or do water aerobics. Exercise helps us to feel better. What we eat keeps the weight under control.

Hi Melody:

I try to get in 5-6. Both pre and post-surgery I have heard 5 from my doctors. (and I have a lot of doctors!)

I do 3 days cardio, 3 days weights.

But it's up to you what you wanna do. As Julie said; its 80% in the kitchen and 20% at the gym. Just get moving, even a walk around the block is good.

I try for 5 a week. sometimes its 4, sometimes its 6. depends on schedule and when I can fit it all in. I work in an office and drive a very far distance 3x a week so make time during lunch to walk and after work. more than anything it helps me mentally and physically to be stronger.

My program called for a post surgery commitment of 30-60 every day. I try to do something every day even if it's stretching/walking and if I get 5-6 hours of actual working out in the week, I consider it good.

Something everyday, but heavy stuff for me cycles. Advice: Start slow, go easy, find fun things to do and build from there. I swam in the pool for my first year post-op. I loved it, had special water music headphones that I treated myself. I only get to swim every 10 days now, but my new passion is the Peloton or boxing. Great stress relievers. Key is find fun things and don't hate what you are doing. You won't do it otherwise.

Good luck
