G'morning everybody!

JB - such a great pic and looks like a fun gathering. I think I recognize almost everybody.

Here I am again with teenage raising question, this never came up during DD yrs so I'm kinda baffled. Do your kids go to co-ed sleepovers? When DS asked me my knee-jerk reaction was an emphatic no. But he tells me everybody goes, we are all friends, what do you think is gonna happen? I still don't feel comfortable. When I asked DD21 what she thought she said "mom, would you have let me go to a sleepover, if there were boys? So why would the rules change for him?" I totally agree with her, but according to DS I am too "old country" and he even said I thought you being from Italy you would be more open minded about these things!!! WTH!? When it's convenient for him I'm Italian, otherwise god forbid if I speak a word in Italian to him, he pretends he can't understand a word.

QOTD: stupid and maybe gross. When kids were little and more gullible, every time we drove over a bridge DH slammed his hand over the top of the car and said the potty man who lived on the top of bridge pooped on our car. I don't know why the kids liked it so much and didn't notice DH's hand out the window. When we would get to our next stop they would want to see the poop on top of the car. DH had always put some sort of mud stain before we even left. To this day, the kids are 21 & 17, every time we drive over a bridge the kids giggle and talk about the potty man. My family has a very gross sense of humor.

My meals for the day:

  • Coffee, coffee, and more coffee
  • Pineapple chicken meatballs
  • HB egg salad with wasabi mayo I found at TJ (so spicy & yum)
  • Yogurt or parm cheese

Have a great Tue, everybody.

they have co-ed sleepovers now? Wow. Although I guess I shouldn't be surprised...

Well played on appealing to your Euro sensibilities! I love the hustle. He may, however, be confusing Italy with France.

I don't really have any experience here. My children so seldom leave the house that this is pretty much unimaginable. We are giddy if they accompany us in the car to Starbucks for their morning coffees.

This doesn't seem like a great idea. Although you are only talking about time because in 13 months he will be in college and you will lose control over where he sleeps.

And that is totally acceptable and I hope he has learned his lessons well by the time he goes to college and is smart. But as long he is under my roof I'm leaning towards no co-ed sleepovers.

Heck, DH came to Italy to ask for my hand and my dad made him sleep in the living room on the couch, and not in the guest room because the guest room and my bed room were on the same floor!! And we were both in our mid 20s. Can you imagine if I asked my dad if I could go to a co-ed sleepover?

OK I have no children and I should not judge but What mother in her right mind would let there daughter go to a co-ed sleep over OMG I'm appalled. Just saying, but if you do give in to your sons demands please arm him with the best condoms you can find. There is no way this thing stays completely innocent, even if he himself does not need them I am sure some other kid will.

I know...I hate to be sexist but with DD I was watching like a hawk what parties she was going to and whose house the sleepover was. If I didn't know the parents it was absolutely no. I gotta say I relaxed the rules a little, hence my fault in being sexist, with DS but still can't imagine these girls' moms who are OK with co-ed sleepovers. It's like putting oil and fire next to each other and then be all surprised that it actually caught fire! Oops!

I'm from Tuscany, specifically from Pisa...The leaning tower.
