Hello. Kinda new here. I cross posted in revision group as well. I have a few days to make a decision about my surgery date and I am feeling overwhelmed.

My question is. How long after bypass could you lay on your belly comfortably? What about getting into a spa or pool?

So the reason I am asking this is that have a spa weekend I won. It will be massages, facials, mani, pediatric, etc. The date is already set for late Sept. My surgeon wants to do Rny surgery on Aug 16. I will be just 6 weeks post op. I am having trouble deciding to keep my surgery date as scheduled or pushing my surgery out til after this trip. Any advice is appreciated

Thanks

So, you want to know if major surgery and an enormous and lifesaving lifestyle change will interfere with a free spa weekend?

Thanks for your condescending comment. After all, you know me so well and know the whole story too, right! Before you judge me, walk a day in my shoes. You have NO idea what I have been through. A simple question about laying on my belly after surgery is all I am asking for advice on. Not judgement from some bariatric weight loss troll. But I will forgive you since I imagine the air must pretty thin up there on your high horse!

It won't interfere . Actually you'll be going through probably the toughest few weeks emotionally ( after 8 weeks or so your body eases up with the excess food withdrawals and your insides are healed enough to start introducing real food again. If your wounds aren't totally healed obviously don't go in the water ( they won't let you anyway ) but avoid those areas with mud masks and get rinsed off with a hand shower on the table . You can buy surgical scar softening adhesive in medical supply which is pretty waterproof for like sixty bucks a box . It really helps reduce scarring and promotes quicker healing too.

Your post was very helpful and I appreciate your honesty. I have waited 7 years for this surgery. I finally have a surgery date and then I won this 15k spa sweepstakes. The date for the spa weekend is set. I cannot change it. I also do not want to forfeit something like this.( I never win anything!) I also have never had RNY and do not completely know what to expect. So it is good to hear from someone who has been there. Thanks again.

I also would not risk postponing the surgery if you have insurance approval now . There have been instances where people were approved and they waited and the insurance company rejected them ..

Thank you for your response. I fear this as well. I have waited 7 years for this. I am hesitate to switch the dates of surgery. But when you get a call that you won a sweepstakes worth 15K dollars, you don't say no. I have no options on the date I go. But I appreciate your honest response to my question.
