I just don't get it. Queen is probably the single greatest band in the history of EVERYTHING. I saw them live last week, and even without Freddie they were still mind-blowingly good.

Phhhhhhtttt. I would rather listen to you sing showtunes and play the banjo than listen to Queen.

Ya know, I could honestly make this happen. I don't have a banjo, but I've got a whole host of other instruments. How about warbling "Memory" from CATS while I play the ukelele?

I am a little nervous about Great Woods. Marilyn described Alpine Valley as "something she survived" and warned me that she is purchasing any experience upgrades that show up in her email. I think we are going to go real early and just bring a picnic to try and beat the crowds.

Tickets for United Center in Chicago were $700 each minimum on Stubhub, so all four of us are going for less than 1 ticket in Chicago would have been.

We purchased the Last Waltz DVD (The Band's last concert) and if I can coordinate a time when everybody is awake, we will watch that tomorrow night. I don't know if that's more Grim's style, but I'm excited to see watch it.

The Laddt Waltz is great, though it's been a long time since I've watched it. I have most of their stuff, and everything Dylan has ever done.

My youngest has been interested ever since he heard about the Watkins Glen Dead/Almann Brothers/Band concert with 600,000 people at it.

That is so cool!!

Historians estimate that one out of every 350 Americans nation wide was at the concert and that one out of every 3 young adults from Boston to New York City was in attendance. Supposedly, they are still finding cars abandoned in the surrounding woods from the concert.

I have a million questions... how did you get there? were you at the sound check on the 27th? could you see the stage? Did the Dead really choke under the pressure of playing before so many? (they have always maintained that they thought they played well - unlike Woodstock), were you impossibly young and beautiful?

I spent that summer in upstate New York. I'd been a bit too young for Woodstock, but definitely wanted to experience Watkins Glen. I went to the concert with my friends the Pinchot brothers, Gifford and Peter, and a few other folks. We drove to Watkins Glen from their huge properties in Van Hornesville, NY, in a car and a truck (in incredible traffic the closer we got to the raceway), and set up our campsite, complete with fluttering, colorful pennants and heraldic banners we had made up for the occasion. We got there early so we were there for the soundcheck. I don't remember the Dead choking - I loved them so, and had seen them a few times before - perhaps I just loved them so much that they could do no wrong in my eyes. The music throughout was fantastic. The crowd was enormous, and I recall that it took forever to make my way up from down by the stage area to our campsite, and back down again. I got an absolutely wicked sunburn! I don't know about having been impossibly beautiful, but I was impossibly young for sure - all of 19. It's a sweet memory!

good morning everyone!

I had a good night last night accountability wise. No extra's and my pouch seems to have calmed a bit. Still taking it easy, avoiding too many fibrous raw veggies and fruits for a few days though I think, just to be safe.

QOTD: I use my Audible app every day, commuting to and from work, also overdrive sometimes if there is an audio book I know I can get for free from the library...I also use Youtube, facebook and instagram a lot and of course MFP. I rarely use my home computer/laptop for anything (maybe like 2 times a month) so my phone is my computer...I use it for everything outside of work.

Morning: large thermos of coffee w/4Tb sf italian sweet cream coffeemate...then another cup of coffee w/2 mini moo's and splenda
B: 1/2C overnight oats w/almond milk, vanilla L&F greek yogurt, cinnamon and blueberries
L: leftover orange marmalade instant pot chicken lettuce cups
(this recipe was SO EASY and it's SO DELICIOUS if anyone wants- basically it's 2-3 lbs boneless skinless chicken, 1 jar of sugar free orange marmalade, and a packet of onion soup mix with a little sprinkling of red pepper flakes. You can make it in a crockpot too but it was done in my instant pot from frozen solid in 20 mins. I added some chopped up green onions after it was cooked too. spoon into lettuce leaves and eat like taco's!
AS: L&F greek yogurt
D: omelette w/leftover turkey taco meat and giardinera w/cheddar
ES: enlightened ice cream bar
