Good morning, everybody!

I espoused some parental wisdom as we drove though the Wisconsin countryside. Explaining that Alpine Valley was, like Red Rocks Ampitheater or Winterland, a legendary Grateful Dead concert venue, and that Jimmy Buffet was, himself, a noted Grateful Dead fan, I shared with my boys that we should expect that Jimmy would musically pay homage to the Dead during the concert. To which my youngest replied, with somewhat less filial piety than I had hoped, "I hope he doesn't pay homage through 45 minutes of Drums into Space, Dad."

Marilyn added "Oh, God, not Drums in Space." Somewhat hard of hearing, my wife is an original Dunder Chief, but that is a topic for another day.

Ahead of us the highway crested and I thought that I caught the glint of sunshine off of metal. I asked Marilyn whether those were cars on the hill. Uncertain, we drove ahead until it became quite clear that there were, in fact, many many cars on the hill. About two miles from the concert three country roads merged into one and another mile ahead, two more roads merged into another before taking a ninety degree turn into a parking lot staffed by friendly but not terribly efficient folks.

At that point it became quite clear to our family that we were going to be sitting in bumper to bumper traffic for a long time. I think that nobody understands a locked up traffic system quite like an RNY patient, but no amount of Miralax was going to clear this clog. To the folks in the party busses and car pools ahead of us something much less pleasant became clear - outdoor peeing. Safely ensconced in a bus driven by a sober professional, they had merrily drank beers, socialized and listened to Jimmy, never thinking that the 25 minute bus ride had an hour and a half snake through the farmland at the end of it.

As is usually the case, the men interest me little. For men, outdoor peeing is a bonus to their day. Something between an ode to childhood memories and a secular sacrament. Bladder relief is only a side benefit. The males strode confidently off of the busses and into the hedgerow destined to leave their mark on the land of Cheddar.

But the poor women. Each one of them had a moment of bargaining as they left the bus. They were good people - why did they have to pee like savages? You could see them standing, roadside, frozen in time, hoping against hope that a public restroom would spring up from the farmland, or that the traffic jam would evaporate, or that their bladders would grow by three sizes, in opposite of The Grinch's heart. As the inevitable disappointment set in, they sadly trudged into the bush row. So many garments to remove.

QOTD: The X-files. Although I can't remember how it ended.

Breakfast: Turkey meatballs and cottage cheese

Snack: Kind bar (need to go to Costco)

Lunch: Ahi tuna salad

Snack: Light and fit

Dinner: TBD (chicken skewers is possible)

Have a great day, all!

I think a few of us have blocked out the ending of X-Files..or at least the last couple of seasons!

I will have to put Alpine Valley on my "must see" concert list; this year I am seeing my first show at the Grand Old Opry and I'm hoping to get something at WolfTrap next year.

Thank you for all your support and well wishes yesterday. Today is the day the regional manager comes to meet me. It is kind of disconcerting because there isn't a specific time- anytime on my shift 9:15-3:15. As a wise woman once said to me - You never know what they are thinking. So I assume nothing and will do my best.

QOTD- I got nothing

Yesterday I decided to go to lunch with my brother, so my planned menu got interrupted by a lobster roll. I cannot complain.

  • Overnight oats with protein
  • turkey on rye, carrots, watermelon
  • roast chicken, veg
  • S: protein, fruit, pumpkin muffins

Good morning everyone! Ugh that it's only Wednesday but on the other hand, since it's only Wednesday I might get some things done this week!

Today I'm working from home, meeting with a potential landscaper to get estimate 2 for the yard (estimate 1 was so high that I actually have changed my plan!) and then I have to run out to my moms after work. I woke up feeling better so either I kicked whatever was de-energizing me or i may have been under hydrated -- 180 oz yesterday so was very well hydrated by bedtime.

QoTD -- the most recent one was Game of Thrones; in my head, that series ended the episode before the Battle of Winterfell and I feel better about everything. I also was annoyed by the ending of Lost. I have not yet dived into the Veronica Mars but hoping to start this wee****ep seeing headlines that I have to click away from. On the flip side, I thought they ended Stargate: SG1 and Buffy and Angel well so it's not just that I hate endings!

Menu today will be coffee, tea and water

B - cin raisin cottage cheese

L - 3 oz ever roast deli chicken, 1 oz hatch chile cheese (Sheila, the only way I don't over indulge is to put it away as soon as I finish weighing it...I'm pretty good about not going back into the fridge but if I leave it out...one more piece doesn't hurt and one more piece and one more piece)

D - smoked sausage link

S - frozen light & fit greek, may also have a built bar mid afternoon

Have a wonderful wednesday all!

OMG I was totally thinking LOST too...I used to have a bunch of friends over for Lost nights to watch it, make dinner, drink wine and have a lost party...that finale was pretty disappointing. I feel like they gave up.
