Morning all. I am up early on this sweltering morning. Boston is supposed to hit 100 today and I think the low tonight is like 80 degrees. All the humidity to match, too. Yuck. I wish I had a pool. I think I will head to the beach this morning before my hair appointment, then just chill in the AC in the bedroom to stay cool.

QOTD: Were you scared to have surgery? Today is my 4 year Band to Bypass Surgiversary (pics below), and I was reflecting on how excited I was. I had the LapBand 14 years ago, and it made me so so so so so very sick, that when it came time for revision, I was barely even nervous, because I wanted it so badly!

Before (14 years ago, the night before LapBand Surgery):

Yesterday (up about 10 from the previous picture):

Accountability: For the first time in a week, I was a tad off plan. We went to a party last night and I drank 1/2 of a beer and had Chinese Teriyaki Sticks. They were the best choice there, but I am sure the teriyaki had a lot of sugar. I also ate (I'm not kidding) SIX potato chips. I didn't even know it was possible to eat so few, but I stopped myself from going back to the bowl. But in more positive news, I ran 5K in the morning, then biked for an hour.

I ate eggs and bacon at a joint nearby. Traded toast for melon.

Other normal meals. No sugar/no peanut butter. My son ate 6 Krispy Kreme donuts. That's my boy.

I was scared because anesthesia is riskier the bigger you are.

Can I live vicariously and just picture eating 6 krispy kreme donuts?

Even he had to take a nap after that adventure.

Donuts are my favorite food in the world.

oh wow - thanks for starting us off, JB! It's rare to have a thread already started this early on the weekend!

My windows are totally fogged up this morning. Evidently it's the A/C inside vs. that inferno outside. I don't think I have EVER seen my windows fogged up in the summer! That usually only happens when it's well below zero outside! I can already tell it's going to be hell going out today - although I'm hoping to catch my sunrise yoga class this morning and going to campus later today to work on a brochure for an organization I chair. Otherwise, I'm staying in!

Accountability was good yesterday - and so was my weight this morning yay!

JB - not sure if you're salt sensitive, but teriyaki sauce also has a ton of sodium. I'm usually waterlogged the morning after eating it. And yep, it has sugar in it, too...

QOTD: Yes. I was really freaked out about surgery. RNY was the first surgery I'd ever had, so that was probably part of it...

4 years 1 month out:

B: protein pancakes topped with 1/3 C plain Greek yogurt and either a fruit compote (no added sugar) or diced 1/2 mango and SF cinnamon syrup, coffee with half & half

MS: protein shake

L: turkey taco meat with lettuce, tomato, salsa, and plain Greek yogurt

AS: light yogurt or frozen protein shake

D: pulled pork with grilled zucchini

have a great day, everyone - stay cool!!

No, my weight was down on the scale this morning, even after the indiscretions of dinner. I'd love to blame gains on sodium but I'm afraid I don't get to.

I mentioned sodium in response to your mention of teriyaki sauce - NOT the 10 lb weight gain. Sorry if that wasn't clear.

Haha, no I got it. I just don't think I've experienced daily gain from sodium... just calories, lol :(

I keep seeing comments and now this discussion on sodium - is it a thing?

I never give a thought to sodium in my food, but it would be great if I could do so and absolve the fact that I've eaten too much!
