What's on your (PHOTO) Friday Menu, RNYers?
It's a matriarchy and there is no way around it. I always tell my DD she is lucky she is dealing only with me. I had my mom AND my grandma supervising every step I took.

Mornin' All!
well my DH and MIL are supposed to leave New Jersey sometime this morning. DH is driving the U-Haul to Wisconsin. MIL is not a fan of long car trips, so they probably won't make an appearance until sometime Sunday. I'm sure it's going to be tough for her to leave, even though she's been wanting to make the move. Fifty+ years in the area is a L-O-N-G time!
She'll be staying at our house on Sunday night since the workers who'll be unloading the truck aren't scheduled until Monday morning. So that means my weekend plans are set in stone - shoveling out my house! (it's really not that bad other than the kitchen - but she's a real neatnik, so I'm going to have to spend a lot of time getting this place in order). It's just as well because it's supposed to be in the high 90s the next couple of days, so I'm going to be trapped in the house no matter what.
Accountability: I went way over on calories yesterday only because of two things: this frozen protein shake I made (using vanilla protein powder, mint extract, and green food coloring) which tasted like mint ice cream (I've worked on getting the texture of these things right - or at least acceptable). I made a double batch so I wouldn't have to do it again today. Big mistake. I could NOT stop eating it - and now I have none left for today. I'd better not make that one again.. Second problem was some trail mix one of my fellow Mah Jongg players brought with her yesterday. I had a big handful before I ate a protein bar to make myself stop. That handful added A LOT of calories to my day. So...felt like a blob last night and again this morning. Why oh why do I do this to myself?? I think next week I'll bring some baby carrots to Mah Jongg so if she pulls out that trail mix again, at least I'll have something else to munch on.
QOTD: OMG of course! I could not survive without central air. Wisconsin (like most of the Midwest) has extremes in temperature, since there's no ocean around to moderate the temp. Summers here aren't long (not like when I lived in the South when they lasted for six months!), but they can be brutal. Lack of central A/C was a deal breaker back when we were house shopping 20+ years ago.
the picture I'm attaching is of our new porch (they have about another week of work left on it). It will be painted the same color as the house (a light sage). The bottom part of it now (not sure what that material is - I think magnesium board) is a similar color (it will be painted over with the sage - as will the cedar boards on that triangular peak), so at least that gives you a general idea of what color it will be when it's finished.
4 years 1 month out:
B: protein pancakes with 1/3 C plain Greek yogurt, half a mango (diced) and SF cinnamon syrup, coffee with half & half
MS: protein shake
L: meeting a friend at our favorite authentic Mexican place. Either two small tacos (those small ones with just meat on them) or one taco + refried beans
AS: if needed, light yogurt and/or raw veggies with ranch Greek yogurt dip
D: either pulled pork or 1/2 a Beyond Burger (with a tiny "bun", light mayo, lettuce, tomato), grilled zucchini
ex: I really need to but I'm afraid of the heat. Maybe a yoga class (doesn't burn calories like I need - but at least it's doing *something*!)
have a great day, everyone!
P.S. They had to put those cement pillars underneath the porch because everything has to be tornado proof around here (the project manager said the thing is probably actually hurricane proof - the city engineers are tough!!). They look less ghastly than they did before the porch was fleshed out (because the eye is now drawn upward), but still. They were suggesting putting some shrubbery around the porch to hide them - or else put in some lattice. Not sure which we'll do. I told them maybe they could just paint them for now until we decide what to do with them.
Nice porch. It's like a sun room!

Good morning friends!
i got a new haircut and i'm Not loving it. It's a tad shorter than i'd Usually go so maybe i'll Come to like it. Picture attached first is of it.
looks to be a "boring" day and that's fine by me. I was able to ride my recline stationary bike 20 minutes yesterday with my handy dandy pillow for the tail bone stuff. It was an aggressive ride and it felt so good! Just three miles but I played with the resistance a lot.
qotd:we only have window units and no forced air heating. This house is miserable in the summer and winter. We have window units and natural gas wall heaters. We were told it'd be upwards of 15,000 to get all the duct work in AND the central unit. Crazy stuff.
the haircut and the other is of the kittens...Opal & Percy.
