Dear friend ate a whole rack of ribs. I heard him screaming as they loaded him in ambulance. He died!! All for ribs. 34 years old

Do you really want honest? If yes here it is... you ****** up IMO. Eating scrambled eggs (and you used eggs - plural - how many eggs did you eat???) at only 9 days post surgery is down right disturbing. So you wanted eggs, do you have zero idea of the possible consequences of eating scrambled eggs this early out?

At 9 days out I struggled to get liquids down let alone eat a solid food like eggs. And FYI I am coming up on 6 years post op and I can barley finish two scrambled eggs, I find eggs one of those foods that is quite dense and sits heavy in my pouch.

To answer your question "Is this bad? Should I just stick to the liquid diet?" Yes it's bad. And yes you should be sticking to the liquid diet.

You realize you have the rest of your life to eat whatever the hell you want so why are you making a huge decision to put your health at risk at 9 days out?

Any doctor or surgeon who says "you will never be able to eat xxx or yyy again" is just saying that as a scare tactic so you won't eat it. If you took a poll of all the Vets here (5yrs post op or longer) and asked them if there is any food they "can't" eat - unless they have a good allergy or a medical issue like GERD or flood sugar crashes they can eat anything, myself included. So my point is take the time to heal, take the time now to learn the "rules" and work you ass off to get your weight off. There is NEVER another honeymoon period, enjoy it while you can. Scrambled eggs will always be around.

Best of luck

Thanks everyone for your replys, comments, concerns and experiences.

I think me eating one egg isnt enough to say I cant handle this or wont be successful....I ate one egg, something healthy a week prior to technically being allowed to, I did not eat a bag of chips or anything unhealthy I would have typically ate prior to surgery...so while I definitely appreciate your opinions, I dont agree that I need to seek serious help because eating this one egg means I'm out of control and if I cant follow rules now I wont ever be able to...that's silly...I followed my liquid diet prior to surgery very strictly and I've been great so far post op, minus this one egg, which I was craving mainly because the protein shakes are not sitting well and need more protein...

Anyway, I have called my surgeon, and he said it's fine and I can continue to eat them starting tomorrow....

I'm not going to beat myself up over one egg...everyone is going to make decisions that may not be the best, but I ate an egg not a hamburger, so I cant sit and dwell on an egg....and my surgeon noww know and has given me the okay.

Thanks for your replys again!

It doesn't matter if your "cheat" was healthy. It matters that you deliberately made the choice to ignore your doctor's instructions.

The only way you will be successful with WLS is if you follow your surgeon's recommendations for eating, not just at a week out, but for the rest of your life. And if you can't do that now, when the potential consequences for straying are severe-to-fatal, why the heck should we believe that you'll be successful in the long term?

The flag i saw was eggS---plural. 16 years later and i can only eat 1 egg. Seriously this post angers me as thousands want this surgery but for many reason$ cant get it and you had the surgery and 8 EIGHT days later--i want eggs---well buckle up because you are going to 'want' many things. 16 almost 17 years later i want cakes, cookies, candy etc BUT i was blessed to have this surgery and watch every bite, every day.

Ashleigh, please don't let this individual get to you. She only posts periodically and only to portion shame.

There are people that are on here regularly that provide feedback (positive and constructive both) on the daily menu thread. Nothing wrong with a blunt kick in the pants but the pattern there is something else!

I want to be encouraging . First of all you made it here which very few bariatric patients do ... no one on my whole surgery floor came to OH. Many ended up with serious complications especially long term. So you're already way ahead.

Youre very brave to admit eating an egg. Being the hopeless rebel on this site of course I did the same thing ... I craved food .. I cautiously tasted a few spoons before my "schedule " . Refried beans I think . I got a " stricture" about five weeks out . Had to be emergency hospitalized IVed and luckily it resolved itself without further surgery. Jes sayin... I wouldn't risk my health like that again.no way no how . ((()))) withdrawals SUCK ... come on here and talk about it and ASAP please find a therapist I wish I did .
