What's on your Tuesday Menu, RNYers?
Mornin' All!
for those who didn't see my late post yesterday, the surgeon was fine with my 3 lb gain from last year. He just shrugged and said it was normal fluctuation. Whew. But I figured that. The RD wants me to quit being so obsessive about my weight and calories. She thinks I should weigh myself once a week instead of every day, and she recommended some books on "intuitive eating" to get me away from calorie counting. Ah - no. I think if I weighed myself once a week, I'd worry even *more* about my weight than I already do. And calorie counting, which I switched over to when I was about a year post-op, has been very effective for me. The "intuitive eating" I used to do got me up to over 300 lbs. Nope - I know myself too well, and I know I have to be strict to maintain this weight loss. Plus I am one of their most successful patients - why on earth would she want me to change what I'm doing? Next year I'll just tell her that I followed her advice and leave it at that.
I have my short story class this morning, then lunch with a friend. She really wants to go to an Indian buffet. Crap. But she's 88 years old and REALLY loves this place and rarely gets to go (she said...). I guess I'll just limit myself to one plateful (which I always do anyway), skip the rice and just focus on non-fried items and things with meat and vegetables. And eat lightly the rest of the day.
Accountability was good yesterday. Plus I went to a (gentle) yoga class PLUS Body Pump. I hate strength training exercises, but Body Pump is slightly better than just going to the weight room and doing dead weights or the machines. So I'll just focus on the BP classes for now.
QOTD: oh good Lord - after plastic surgery, I have them all over my body (but nowhere that anyone can see, except for my upper arms - which are now covered because I'm not supposed to expose them to the sun for awhile...). I also have one on my forearm from when I cut myself on something when I was like four years old. And another on my shin from falling in the attic about 20 years ago. And the last is just below my lower lip (you can't really see it) from an ice-skating accident when I was 10. I can't see any from my RNY surgery anymore. I actually scar pretty well - so I'm hoping this is true for my last PS, because some of those scars look pretty nasty (they've faded really well from my LBL I had a year ago, though, so maybe these newer ones will fade a lot, too. I hope....)
4 years 1 month out:
B: protein pancakes w/ 1/3 C plain Greek yogurt, diced peach, and SF syrup, coffee with half & half
MS: protein shake
L: Indian buffet. I'll be careful!
AS: probably not needed
D: turkey taco meat with lettuce, tomato, salsa, and plain Greek yogurt
have a great day, everyone!

I feel so scared about plastics because of how badly I scar!

at least no one would see them. My LBL scars are great. They're also coming along OK on my boobs. I'm not sure about my arms and sides, though - but I've read somewhere that arms can scar badly - and I think I've also read that vertical scars often don't look as nice as horizontal scars. Why the latter would be the case, I have no idea..
Quick post here too. Miss Lily and I have our first long walk in already and will do 2 more before the day is done. Accountability was good stepwise but there 3 mini candy bars. Weight today is 122.6 QOTD scars from RNY and bug ropy scars on knees from knee replacements. Here's the food plan B2/3c earnest eats hot cereal L tuna packet with relish and mayo D 4 oz burger with cheese no bun have a wonderful day full of healthy choices everyone!
Julia! Yay to no popcorn.
QOTD: Ha. I have so many scars when my gyno was doing my annual he said- You are by far my patient with the most scars... it is like a roadmap.
I feel like I am coming up for air. I have two glorious days off in a row, which I am excited about. GNC has escalated from 18-24 hours to can we squeeze 39.75 hours out of her and not call it full time? I threw my hat in the ring to be manager last week because I said- if you are going to work me full time I want to be full time. I have plenty of Management experience, just not retail. Managers get a real salary, and higher commission. Still writing content for websites on the side, and will start teaching Mental Health First Aid in August.
I am also sitting here drinking a Latte made with Fairlife and cold brew. Also Glorious. I decided I needed to go back to cold brew as I haven't been able to have a morning coffee in about 6 weeks without acid repercussions. Afternoon coffee maybe. So acid is doing better so I thought I would give it a whirl. I am hoping I am good. Fingers crossed.
Eats:
- Fairlife cold brew latte
- eggs and spinach
- egg salad, veg
- taco salad with street taco quesadilla
- S: protein, pumpkin muffins
ex: Gym today. Pool!

Hey Stranger! Wow, sounds like we need to catch up! Of course, as soon as I am free you become busy, hahaha. But we'll have to figure out a time to get together soon.

Good morning, everybody!
Hero workout week continues with Blake. Almost all lower body today, lunges, box jumps and wall balls. I don't have handstand push-ups in my repertoire (but you can bet I will overshare about it when I do) so i had to just do regular push-ups. Also, since I wasn't RX, I made an executive decision to avoid the potential head injury and just hold my weight swaddled like a baby during the lunges. Finished in 26:45. Rest in Peace Senior Chief Blake.
Hopefully I will have buns of steel by tomorrow, but in the meantime I have to head to work on a gloomy, humid, rainy Tuesday morning.
QOTD: Like all Bostonians I am emotionally scarred from the 1986 World Series. I have a number of scars from various accidents I had as a child. As I got older, I stopped getting some of those stitched and just have regular old
scars. Poor Marilyn had a mishap with an escalator last month ands a nasty cut on her ankle that is going to scar.
Breakfast: Sous vide egg bite
Snack: Protein bar
Lunch: Ahi tuna salad
Snack: Jerky
Dinner: hot dog
Have a great day, all!

OMG! I just ate my Folios Cheese wrap! I like cheese and thought it might be okay... It's better than okay, it's GREAT! I can't believe how good it was, still not sure if $4.50 is a fair price for 4 cheese wraps but I'll be buying more while I'm doing extra low carb to get back on track. Then when I can eat a few more carbs go back to my 5 carb wraps... until then YUM!
