What's on your Thursday Menu, RNYers?
on 7/11/19 7:40 am
Hey everyone! It's warming up over here - when I'm sweating after a shower at 5 am you know it's getting real! I'm frustrated because most of my clothes don't fit, I have very few that do and I've been living in leggings w/gym shoes+orthotics due to my back and hips. Not a very professional look. Today I was able to pull off (fit into) slacks and a blouse w/ flats, but my back/hips are already mad about that. I forgot to bring my gym shoes so I may have to go buy a new pair - which wouldn't brake my heart since I've been eyeing a pair of New Balance....coincidence?
QOTD - TJ's chocolate covered peanut butter pretzels - I made a new fan, but now I'm craving them - boo!
Accountability - I added pepperoni and pork rinds - there are worse things!

I am really sad that I have a bunch of summer clothes that don't fit, too :( I put a bunch up in the attic with the label on the bin that says, "crazy small summer". I hope that I am "crazy small" again next year or I am going to have to part them them forever.
Buy the shoes!

Fell of the wagon last night but not too bad. I'm doing better and have a new plan in place to help with the late night stress snacking.

Happy Thursday everyone. I was 100% yesterday in control and the graph of my blood sugar proves it. It was a straight line with very little deviation. I was all protein except for the milk in my latte, and the 1/4 cup cauliflower rice with my turkey. I even gave up my nectarine before spin. In control until dinner. I went to sushi with friends and it proved that I can't even have a little rice. My blood sugar went to 313 and I knew I was going to be in for a rough night. So back to all protein all the time (except for the latte) I still have the nectarine with me and it's hurting my heart that I can't have it, not even related to weight and whether it's a good idea from that standpoint. Ugh.
QOTD: I recommended the arboretum concert series to a friend of mine who loved it. I have a new convert. It's one of my favorite parts of summer.
My plan:
B: 4 oz turkey, 1.4 c cauliflower rice, .5 oz cheese
L: Chicken thigh and carrots if needed
D: Steak
S: Homemade latte, 2 slices Boarshead Turkey and a string cheese before the gym while my nectarine stares at me . . .
E: hot spin

313?? Jeeeez! I am so sorry this continues to be such a crazy struggle. I am glad you are able to handle the latte!

G'morning everyone!
Kinda late to post.
JB - if you are talking about Robert Galbraith there is a 4th book and it's as good as the first three. I never thought I would love anything JK Rowling wrote after HP, but I'm in love with Cormoran Strike.
Scandal in our little town. A kid who has been in DD's class since kindergarten has been sentenced to 30 years in prison by federal prosecutors for child porn. He is now DD's age 21, but was arrested about two years ago. DD never liked him and told me he gave her the creeps. I always told her be nice, he is just shy! When the news broke he was arrested about two years ago DD all the way from DC texted me all in caps I TOLD YOU. Anyway this boy was camp counselor, baby sitter and was studying to become kindergarten teacher. It was scary and too close to home. I knew a lot of families who used him as baby sitter or he was the after school teacher for their kids. You can't imagine the uproar.
QOTD: I just recommended the hoopla app to my gf who was complaining about the cost of audible. She didn't know you can borrow audio books through hoopla (and your town library) for free. Happy friend!
Accountability: meh!
My meals for the day:
- Coffee, coffee, and more coffee
- Chicken skewers
- Sushi (wrapped cucumber - no rice)
- Yogurt or parm cheese
Happy Fri-eve.

I have never heard of hoopla - I have to check it out! I use Libby which connects me to print and audio books both from my library. It's pretty awesome.
My most favorite recent app I discovered is called Hopper. If you know you want to visit your mom in Italy or your DD in DC, you open up Hopper and search for flights. It will tell you, "Flights to DC start at $359 roundtrip but we anticipate they will drop $40 in the next month, and prices will go up starting August 21st". You can choose to "watch" trips. I watch tons of trips, all the time :) It's fabulous.
I think Libby and Hoopla are almost the same. When I can't find a book on Hoopla I try Overdrive...in rare occasions Overdrive has what Hoopla doesn't. All these apps are connected to your library for print, audio and even video.
I have been checking hopper but honestly haven't seen good prices. Can't remember where the last trip was but the prices it was offering were not that good and I got better prices directly with the airline. But now that you mention it I better check it because DH is going to DC to help DD move into her apartment and then the two of them will come back home.
