What's on your Thursday (July 4) Menu, RNYers?

Morning everyone! I hope everyone has a fun day off planned! We live about .25 miles from the biggest fair in the county, which runs for 2 weeks over the July 4 holiday every year. We are going with Grim's daughter and a few friends. It's going to be oppressively hot and humid, though, so I hope it's fun this year. I am definitely planning to indulge in the fair French fries that have there, but I will avoid the other crap (even though the fried Reeces Cups are to die for).

Last night we saw the movie Yesterday which is about a struggling musician who wakes up one day to realize that everyone in the world has forgotten the Beatles, so he co-opts there music and becomes famous--it was lovely! I generally detest romantic comedies, but it was very sweet and well done. QOTD: Give us your movie recommendations (old or new)!

Mornin' All and happy July 4 to the US folks! (well, that would include moi...)

I'm trying to fathom fried Reese cups. Hmmm...interesting. Who would have even come up with that? Although I've heard of fried everything-else at fairs, so why not?

our neighbor wants us to go out to breakfast with her today, but she always wants to go at around 10:00 or so, which is too late for me - so I'll just get coffee. Or maybe a side of yogurt if they have it. Not only is that late - but I don't want/need all the calories. I was 155 this morning, up 3 lbs from two days ago, so obviously I'm water-logged, but I'm still feeling really fat at the moment and do NOT want to eat. So...no breakfast out for me. Plus another neighbor is hosting a potluck picnic dinner for people on our block who have no other plans, and that's likely to mean more calories than I want, too - so no way do I want to risk over-indulging twice today (that's all the plans for today, btw. But I might go to a yoga class if there's a good one that hasn't been canceled for today! I'll check to see if the gym is open, too. I need to do *something*, and it'll be too hot to do anything outside).

QOTD: I haven't gone to a movie since probably January, but I want to see Rocketman. Not sure what else is out now - I haven't been keeping up because there usually isn't much that comes out in the spring - but there are usually decent choices in the summer, so I really should check! I belong to a wonderful film discussion group, though. We watch older films - many of them foreign or independent. Last month we saw an Iranian film called "The Separation" which was very good. This month's selection is a German film called "Barbara". It's supposed to be very good, too, although I haven't seen it yet (the DVD has been sitting on my kitchen table for at least a week now...)

4 years 1 month out:

B: protein pancakes with 1/3 C plain Greek yogurt + pieces from 1/2 mango, SF cinnamon syrup, coffee with half & half

MS: probably more coffee w/ half & half. Maybe a side of yogurt or a sausage link or something else small and protein-forward

L: a couple of pieces of sushi or cottage cheese

AS: I'd better plan on something to avoid mawing at the potluck dinner. Maybe more cottage cheese? Or a couple of protein powder/peanut butter balls?

D: I'm making a chickpea salad (recipe is in one of my Turkish cookbooks). I don't know what else will be there, but I'm going to try to eat lightly - and protein-forward, of course...

ex: something

have a great day, everyone!

I heard Rocketman is a good movie but you have to be prepared to hate him a little because he is portrayed as a mean diva. Not sure I want to see that...

If you want to see him in all his diva glory, see Tantrums and Tiaras by David Furni**** was an awesome movie and shows him warts and all.

Rocketman was great if you are a fan
