Mornin!

So far things have been ok in Cleveland. Calories have been within range, and I've been on the exercise bike in the hotel each morning after breakfast. The breakfasts here at the hotel have been carby other than the eggs, so I've been eating eggs and supplementing with L&F yogurt that I picked up at the store up the street. I also have cheese sticks and baby carrots in the fridge for snacks.

Viewing last night went ok. Talking to my friend's husband and daughter was a little easier than expected, and I did see her body, but she looked nothing like she did in real life, so I wasn't distressed by it. For one thing, they had a wig on her (she had cancer) that wasn't quite the right color and was in a style that she would have never worn. Plus her face was kind of bloated from the steroids she'd been taking, and well... in general she just didn't look like herself. It was hard to reconcile the body on display with all the photos of her posted all over the place. The funeral is this afternoon... should be easier, but we'll see.

4 years out

B. scrambled egg, banana, L&F yogurt, coffee with half and half

MS. Probably another L&F and/ or some string cheese

L. ?? I brought a few protein bars with me, so maybe that

AS and D. I think they're having some food after the funeral, so not sure. If not, I have half a turkey sandwich in the fridge ( leftover from yesterday)

Have a good day, all!!

Good morning everyone.

i'm having eye surgery this week on the left eye and next week on the right. Thanks to the years of uncontrolled diabetes that led to diabetic retinopathy I have cataracts. I'm 38 and embarrassed. BUT it is what it is. I'm nervous, mostly about the IV stuff getting started.

QOTD: usually chainmaille or some type of craft.

m1:PP shake

m2:butternut squash purée

m3:chicken purée

m4:PP shake

m5:???

I'm glad you are having your vision addressed. I was told a year so ago that I have the beginnings of cataracts too - evidently we all get these if we live long enough. The doc told me that eventually it will effect my night vision by making lights appear ringed by big blurry illuminated circles and rays. Something to look forward to (not!)! Anyway, your vision will hopefully improve after surgery. Best of luck!

Best wishes with the surgery, Melody. Never mind embarrassed, focus on your recovery and taking care of yourself.

It's a HOT and HUMID Sunday here in the DC area...ick! I certainly don't mind the heat as much as I used to but the humidity is still miserable!

I had an early appointment with my therapist and then went by Trader Joe's, Harris Teeter and PetSmart for our weekly necessities. Came home and cleaned out the fridge and freezer before putting the new stuff in. It's easy when I'm busy just to shove things in and not keep it all clean. I always feel better when my world is organized!

Yesterday had brunch with a friend from HS. We met in the 8th grade and have generally kept up over the years. He lives in San Antonio and flew in for a family wedding. It was good to see he and his partner and catch up a bit!

QOTD: yes Karen, rainy days are better with coffee and cuddling with my cats. Sometimes I make a pot of soup but I still have chicken zoodle soup left from this week.

Menu:

B: coffee & DD turkey sausage wakeup wrap

L1: CarbMaster yogurt w/ blackberries, raspberries & slivered almonds

L2: Indian restaurant with a friend, probably Chicken Tikka

D: not sure how hungry I'll be, maybe a protein shake or cottage cheese

Thanks! It makes me really happy when I see it. We've been through some really tough times together and he is the only person from that time in my life that I've stayed in contact with. It was wonderful to see him and know that we are in a better place. I kept telling him that we look pretty good for old queer folk, but he disagrees.... I still love him anyway!

Thanks Jim! It makes me really happy to have this picture of us after all that we've been through in the last 38 years and all we've accomplished in spite of it all. I'll try to post a picture of me in the short skirt I wore to brunch. I did it just because when we met, I would have been suspended for wearing it. There were rules about how long your skirt had to be and there was Miss Beachy who wandered the halls with a ruler enforcing the rules! Nice to be old and I can wear whatever I want, even if I do have batwings!!
