Hello RnYers! Happy Friday!
Karen, thanks for getting us rolling today. Miss Lily is very cute!
I've got all sorts of errands for to run today, and have to put in a big order of essential oils, herbs, etc.
I have a fairly heavy-duty QOTD: Have you struggled at all with any transfer addiction? That is, now that you aren't overeating as a method of anxiety, etc. control, have you noticed yourself trying to replace that coping mechanism with another addictive behavior? I was looking at my closet last night and realized that virtually everything in it has been acquired within the past 9 months or so. Now, I did need new clothes because most of my older stuff became too big. But wow, can I ever shop! I really enjoy it, but I don't have endlessly deep pockets, and I really do need to monitor my spending. But it feels so good to have beautiful new things! Still, it's a short-sighted use of limited resources. I need to save for plastics!
First: big mugs of coffee with cashew milk and a little ST syrup
B: ham
L: roast beef
D: shrimp. Green veggies of some sort.
Below: my two Siamese; me, earlier this year; some geraniums I painted; my one year as a blonde, 11 or so years ago.
Have fun today, my friends!
I think mine might be shopping as well - I seem to do it a lot these days, certainly a lot more than I used to, but always at thrift stores, because I'm still pretty frugal. I've purchased three handbags in the last month or so, plus several tops. I'm retired - do I really need all this stuff? I could probably wear the same thing every day for a week and no one would ever notice!! So why do I need all of these clothes? And handbags?
I dont think 3 handbags and several tops from a thriftstore qualifies as an addiction ;)
I literally buy at least one piece clothing almost every single week these days. Do I need it? absolutely not. I have enough clothing right now to wear something completely different every single day (including different shoes) for at least a month without repeating a single clothing item. without the shoes, I probably have enough for more than a month, and enough tops for at least 3 months.
Do I consider it an addiction? It could be close, but because it doesn't interfere with my life or create any other issues for me I don't see it as a real problem. I joke about it and DH makes jokes too, but I stay within a budget and I try to be conscious of the usefulness of everything I buy lately.
For a few months I was just excited to find things that fit me, and admittedly I have a few pieces I haven't even worn because I just don't have anywhere appropriate to wear them or I decided just because they fit doesn't really mean I should wear them (due to not being flattering or maybe just not appropriate for my age or style).
I have been really good about purging things though...trying not to become a clothing hoarder, so every couple of weeks I will go through my closet and dresser and try on some of the things I know might not fit anymore and get rid of anything I won't or can't wear.
Since I am working on my fashion consulting sideline project, I feel like the clothes are more of an investment...so I can justify them LOL

I too get on (fairly minor) binges with specific categories of clothes and accessories. In fact I do need a new handbag - I have five, but two are big totes, not really for everyday; one is slightly too small but beautiful, and two I have had for years, and they both look like they've been loved to death. I have bought at least 7 or 8 wrap dresses in the past few months, around 10 pairs of jeans, and most recently, three blazers. That's on top of new spring/summer skirts and tops, etc., not to mention new shoes and boots, and all of that beautiful cashmere I indulged in during the end of winter sales. But its all good. I definitely don't need all of these things, though - I only have one body and can only wear one outfit at a time! It's all just for the pleasure of wearing pretty things after hating to shop for so long. And honestly, I really do get a lot of pleasure out of my clothing!
Cara I think this is the first time I have seen a picture of you and you are Gorgeous! You should totally go blonde again! I wish I could pull off platinum but my skin tone is too olive.
thanks for showing your pretty face

Thank you Amber! I have thought about going blonde again - it probably will happen at some fairly near point. I have some blonde balayage highlights in my hair, but overall it's still red. I grew up a redhead, so it's a very comfortable color for me, and one I suppose I regard as part of my identity. But blonde is a LOT easier to maintain once you start going grey (or, like me, white)!
My natural color was dark brown, but I keep going progressively lighter every couple of years. I was afraid it'd start looking obviously fake as I aged, but my hairdresser said not if you keep going lighter as time goes on. There is nothing worse than a 90 year old with jet black hair! So I'll probably be blond at some point, too!!
