i know i'm still rather fresh post-op but i've got to ask...when does the energy levels go up?

i think I lucked out with my VSG and never felt this depleted. I take my vitamins and I get bloodwork checked next week.

I gradually started to feel better/more energy once I started my vitamins and was able to start adding more actual food to my diet. As you said, you're still fresh out from major surgery and your body needs rest/time to heal. You're doing great!

Give yourself time to heal. You will start feeling better soon. Remember your body has gone and will continue to go through changes as you move forward. I promise you will feel better soon.

I had RNY 5 1/2 yrs ago and I remember feeling so exhausted the first three months. I know that I am not a fast healer and I don't "bounce back" from surgeries. So for me my "recovery" time was longer than a lot of people here on OH.

It does get better, I promise! Just remember to be kind to yourself, if your body is telling you to rest or take a nap, then do.

Great job on taking your vitamins and getting blood work done. You are so early out you won't see any deficiencies yet in your lab work (unless they were there pre surgery) but good to get it checked and get a fresh post op baseline. Don't forget to drink liquids like its your job. My plan allowed decaf coffee up to month three then we could switch to regular caffeinated coffee. I drink a lot of liquids, I drink a minimum of 150oz a day which equals 19 "8oz" glasses of liquids and it makes me feel so much better. I drink boat loads of coffee with vanilla premier protein used as "creamer" in the AM, lots of ice water, lots of diet (aka sugar free) cranberry juice with water (half water half cranberry juice), lots of decaf coffee after 12noon otherwise I can't sleep at night and lots of green tea. Keep hydrated. Rest when you need to. Track your food and go hard at losing and getting to goal because let me tell you Melody maintenance is a ***** and there is never another "honeymoon" period like the one you have know.

Best of luck, keep up the great work!

I'm pretty sure you just had revision a few weeks ago. I am new enough to remember the exhaustion. It will all get better in time if you rest as needed, take your vitamins and stay hydrated.
