I know you said it's physical hunger pains but it might all be mental right now...I know I didnt really feel hungry for about 9 months post op, but I definitely had food cravings and wanted to eat lots of stuff I couldn't physically have (for a while at least) but it was mostly head hunger.
I would play this game with myself to test it...If I thought I was hungry, did plain cottage cheese or yogurt sound good?
if no, It was probably mental. if yes, I would eat the cottage cheese or yogurt lol...I may have been wishing it was a cheeseburger or pizza, but once I ate, the actual hunger would go away.

the other thing it could be is thirst...even sipping all day, early on it's tough to get in 64 oz of water and really once you can drink a little easier, it's recommended to shoot for at least 80 oz. so if you're thirsty sometimes it mimics hunger pains. just keep sipping your fluids, and if you think you're hungry try eating one of your allowed foods--sugar free jello, yogurt, soup, etc... if none of those things sound appealing to you then you're not actually experiencing true hunger, but a craving.

I can't say the cravings go away but it does get easier to manage them once you have changed your habits. I gotta tell you, I have eaten a cheeseburger (a small one after I was a year out) and it tasted great but I did feel kind of gross afterwards. once your body is trained to eat healthier foods, you can really notice a difference when you eat junk.
We make cheeseburgers once in a while still, sans bun usually, maybe with a lettuce wrap or just eat it with a fork and knife with all the toppings and no bun...you'll discover creative and healthier ways to recreate your favorite foods in a healthier way.
