Good morning! I had a pretty good day yesterday. All that I really accomplished was making dinner and some housework, but I'm taking it easy and trying to rest before surgery. Yesterday was the second day that I actually took a nap in the afternoon.

I finished all of the assignments for my current class that ends 6/4, so I have only minimal requirements in that area. I applied for and received a leave of absence (10 weeks). After the 4th, I will be good until sometime in August. I probably won't know what to do with myself if I am not studying/researching!

I have noticed that one person in the program may be 300# with not a lot of complications - walking a mile a day, doing regular stuff while another at 300# may be unable to walk to the neighbor's house. No judging here - my question is this: Does the amount of activity that you can do pre-op affect the surgery's outcome long-term? Does the average-activity person do better than the person who is limited?

QOTD:

My last day of half-caff. I started weaning off once my schoolwork was done.
Breakfast: 2 soft-boiled egg with toast
Morning Snack: yogurt
Lunch: Soup
Afternoon Snack: cheese
Dinner: oven-roasted chicken and salad

Activity: walking

I think it may vary by age and activity level prior to surgery :) I was 36 and 351 lbs the day of surgery (I am a 5'4" woman). I had zero complications, left the hospital the morning after, no gas pain in my shoulder, no incision pain...I hung at home for a few days and then I think on day 3 I was taking some work calls from home, then walked to the grocery store, and on day 7 went back to my office job. I was a little more tired than normal, but I also felt great because being at such a high weight, I dropped like 27 lbs in the first month which was hugely motivating and the lighter I felt, the more energy I had!

Good luck with surgery - it's life-changing for sure! I mean, case in point, I have a middle seat on an overnight flight from DC to London tonight and don't even care! At 351 lbs, I would have been hyperventilating and desperate to get an aisle seat knowing I would still be spilling over into my neighbors seat...

hey everyone, I made it (late again)...It seems like the mornings are just too busy for me to get everything done and remember to post here, so maybe I'll just be a late poster now...

I am still sick, not getting any better and have a message in to my PCP to see if he will call something in to the pharmacy for me without me having to make a trip in to see him (he is about 20 mins from where I work and he is never on time so it's super inconvenient for me to take time off work to go in). I am hoping to get a call back soon...I left a message at like 9:30 this morning and it's 1:45 now.
I just want to start feeling better! I have a ton of ideas for some new Youtube videos for my channel but I feel like poop and by the time I get home I just want to put on PJ's and lay in my bed with my kleenex and my nyquil.
If I can start an antibiotic this afternoon, hopefully I'll start to feel at least a little better tomorrow evening for my fancy date with DH to go see Eddie Izzard!

B: Lots of coffee, SF coffeemate, low carb banana bread & 12 cherries
L: ranch chicken & butternut squash zoodles w/peas
AS: greek L&F yogurt
D: I forgot to thaw anything out...probably will just end up eating tuna & baby carrots w/hummus
ES: 1oz nut mix & enlightened ice cream bar
