4 days post op
I'm 4 days post op and have no pain at the surgical site. The only issue I've had since yesterday evening is nausea. I'm drinking 60 ounces of liquid, and yesterday I had 5 ounces of a protein shake (as stated on my surgeons diet plan) but I had the worse nausea ever. Did anyone have nausea the first few days post surgery? Any advice?

I exercise to be fit, not skinny...I eat to nourish my body...and I always ignore the haters, doubters and unhealthy examples that were once feeding me. I am worth a lot more than I realize, and that is my daily motivation!
How are you feeling post surgery? I'm getting terrible headaches and I'm so tired all the time. I have my first post op appointment tomorrow, hopefully my liquid stage will end and I can move to puréed foods.

Protein shakes are kind of hard on the stomach. They cause nausea for a lot of people early on. I suggest you skip the protein shakes for a day and see if your nausea goes away. Then start your protein shakes again, but only take tiny sips, and spread it out over 24 hours. As my medical team told me, protein is important in the long term, but it's not super important right now. That 5 oz of protein shake is probably a goal, not a requirement. You may need to slowly work your way up to 5 oz.
Of course, if anything I've said contradicts the advice of your medical team, follow their advice, not mine.
Thank you for replying. It could have easily been the protein shake. Today I woke up without nausea, so I'm going to skip the shake for today, and try again tomorrow.

When I was immediately post-op the protein shakes made me very nauseous as well and it is just like the others have said having a really cold and taking small steps throughout the day is what did the trick for me. Congratulations on starting your new Journey I hope it turns out to be as amazing for you as it has been for me!
I guess the liquid stage really sucks. I'm still waiting for my journey to become amazing...lol.

It gets better! My first week was 64oz full sugar Gatorade per day...if I got that down, I could have water. I will never drink Gatorade again but it made that first cup of not Gatorade amazing.
