Quick post for accountability on this gloomy overcast Sunday. Lily and I already have one walk in and will do 2 more later. Ate on plan and got steps in yesterday and weight is a 123.6 today. Low on fluids yesterday so that's the goal for today. Here's the food plan B2/3c Earnest Eats hot cereal L 4 oz campfire chicken deli meat D 4 oz marinated pork chops S 2 oz pork rinds if needed. Have a great day full of healthy choices friends! Pics of our home away from home and happy Lily who is a drooly mess today. Yes that is a string of droo in the corner of her mouth!

Yep, Karen was typing while I was and hit post before I did. Just pasting in my post...

Adding: Lily does look really happy!! And cute even with the drool!

Not sure if Karen is typing at the same time or not, but I've got a few minutes and I'll get things started.

It's another hot and humid day here in the mid-Atlanti****rtainly like the heat more than I did when I was SMO but the humidity still really bothers me! I do find that more than 2 years post-op that I don't feel as cold all the time as I did last year. Not sure if things are balancing out or if my body is still in some kind of flux.

Hoping to head out in about an hour for some grocery shopping & a stop by Kohl's to pick up some new bed sheets that hopefully fit better on my deep mattress. Then back home to do a few household tasks and then back to the library for more study from 1-5. I am starting to panic a bit and wishing I had more time to review my weak areas. I'll just keep focusing as best I can and getting ready.

I am trying to find "practice victims" to do cyber workouts with. If you are interested in doing a free cyber workout with a new trainer as practice, PM me and we can set something up...no pressure!

QOTD: did you do any exercise or sports growing up? I had severe asthma as a child, and actually until after I lost weight, so I was as still and quiet to avoid activating an asthma attack. I hated gym class because I was really bad at sports (no experience) and it made me feel bad (physically & emotionally). This new active life is certainly a change for me!

Accountability: I was really munchy when I got home from the library yesterda. Mostly okay food (yogurt, cottage cheese, berries) but I had way too much of it!

Menu:

B: coffee w/ Miralax, ham, 1/2 cup plain oatmeal w/ blueberries & slivered almonds

S: protein shake

L: hopefully a salad from Mezeh w/ chicken

S: yogurt, Chomps

D: leftover chicken kabob

E: a walk if I can avoid the rain!

Good Morning

Janet, I would totally be your cyber workout victim if I didn't already have a online trainer. I get to do dip holds today with weights hanging off me. That will look badass but I think he forgets how old I am. I also think sometimes he doesn't know how to count. Like today a total of 105 American KB swings at 16kg which is about 35 pounds. I honestly doubt I can do it at that weight. But we will see.

QOTD: I did play tennis growing up and was pretty good at field hockey in school. A gym teacher suggested I try out for the team but I certainly thought I was too fat.

  • Green smoothie
  • Eggs
  • thai turkey meatballs
  • dinner tbd
  • S: protein, apple muffins, veggies

ex: gym

Mornin'!

My local medical clinic never got back to me yesterday on whether or not they'd be willing to remove this exposed surgical staple from my incision. I'm not sure what to do. The thought of driving back to Chicago to have a staple removed (something a local provider could do) seems ludicrous, but I'm a little afraid it's going to take awhile to get in to see my PCP. I'd be a little surprised if they're unwilling to do it, but there's the time factor. Although this thing isn't bothering me too, too much at this point. It will have to come out eventually, though. I don't have a regular appt with my PS until June 13, which is a bit far off... this thing is probably going to have to come out before then. Ugh. I sure wish they would have gotten back to me yesterday..

I blew it at the luncheon yesterday. I ate the bun...and most of the fries...and even some of the cake - things I never would have touched while I was in weight-loss mode. I don't know why it seemed so much easier then to avoid things. Well, I'll just have to eat lightly today to balance it out.

QOTD: I didn't participate in sports, but I was pretty active. Bike riding, walking, ice skating (year around). I never saw those as "exercising", though (I would now!)

3 years 11 months out:

B: protein shake, coffee with half & half

MS: (flip flopping this with breakfast since I didn't wake up hungry, and my husband suspects the neighbor will want to go to brunch today - she usually proposes it at the last minute, after I've already eaten). If I'm home, protein pancakes with plain Greek yogurt and apple/cinnamon compote. If we go out, something safe - like eggs.

L: deli turkey breast slices and 1 oz cheese, raw veggies if I'm still hungry

AS: light yogurt

D: blackened salmon with steamed broccoli

have a great day, all!

A doctor at Urgent Care or an emergency room should be able to remove the staple.

I was thinking that as well. I can go to an urgent care center if I can't get in to see my PCP within a couple of days (they may even refer me over there if they don't have any openings). I'm not sure if insurance will cover it since it's related to PS (whereas the surgeon would be free), but then, there's the cost - and inconvenience - of going down to Chicago. It'd probably end up being a wash...(and who knows - insurance MAY cover it after all...)

I really dont think there will be any problem with insurance covering the urgent care visit.

Hi catwoman

I worked for insurance companies for years. You aren't expected to figure all this out on your own. Your PCP and your insurance company are responsible for making sure you have the right referrals, that are covered by your insurance, and within the medically necessary time period. Your responsibility is to call and get the referrals.

Good luck - Louise
