What's on your Thursday menu,RNYers?
- btw - when you're talking about rate of weight loss, be sure to tell them that most of them are probably not going to lose 30+ lbs the first month, and not to be discouraged by that. A lot of their exposure to WLS has been "My 600 lb Life", so they think they're going to lose megatons of weight really fast like people who start at 600+ lbs do. I tell them that from what I've observed, something in the 15-25 lb range is most common (even though there ARE people who lose 30 - but that's not the case with the majority). I just don't want them to get discouraged if they just lose 20 lbs the first month. That is perfectly normal!
yes I think it's cool that DH and I will be doing it together so we can talk about how everyone's experiences are different. I lost like 17 lbs the first month where he lost over 50...but I also spent years yo-yo dieting and he had never done a real restrictive diet for more than a week or 2 in his life. LOL. as we like to say, Comparison is the thief of joy...so I want to make a point of that for sure!

I've had bronchitis forever, been on one round of antibiotics and now I've got a sinus infection right along with it. I'm tired of coughing!!! Particularly tired of walking that aggravates coughing.
QOTD: I so agree with Bethmal. Garden tomatoes, not house house tomatoes. Slice 'em up, little salt, yummo!!!
Accountability: Good I think. But y'all can weigh in, advice kinda needed. My food has increased fat wise. I've added nuts to my diet more of late. I looked today and the fat "offenders" are almonds, panino cheese/prosciutto stick and quest bar. So is it bad that my fats are up? My last cholesterol check was good, 178 was total cholesterol and LDLs and triglycerides were within the guidelines. This has been on the increase as I've increased my calories but my fat macros have increased also. I've always eaten lean, I've always listed 25% for fat macros and up until the last 4 or 5 months, I'd hit maybe 20%. So, is this okay, basically?
Major victory, someone left strawberry cake made with real strawerries and everyone that tried it, raved about how good it was. It smelled good!!!! I won't know, I didn't have any. I figured yesterday's baked beans, fried rice was bad enough for this week.

Thank you for your response. I was raised in the "fat is bad" era and sometimes, it's hard to shake that way of thinking. I'm trying though.

I have to have fat in my diet or else my skin gets incredibly dry. My recent blood had my total cholesterol at 241 (which is high) but my HDL is 120 (which is also REALLY high), my LDL is 111 so near normal/optimal so my TC/HDL ratio is 2.0. Mine has looked pretty much like this since about 9 months post op. PCP/surgeon are both fine with these numbers.
not eating today I am doing a 48-72 hour fast this weekend. trying to kick into ketosis ! hope this works!!! did an intermittent 24 hour fast this week and lost 5 pounds so maybe!~
