What's on your Saturday menu, RNYers?
Hi Janet - do you have Kettlebells at home? If so, where did you get yours? I looked at Dick's Sporting Goods and they seem really expensive.

I don't use kettlebells because of the high risk of injury from the swinging motions, etc. I know that they are super popular but most of the safer exercises that I've seen can be done with a dumbbell, which has other uses too. Be REALLY careful with kettlebells! Lots of risk of straining the muscles you're actually trying to strengthen. Also plyometrics is REALLY popular but from everything that I've read, it's designed and should be limited to well-conditioned athletes training for specific sports. It isn't designed or useful for the average individual even one who is active and fit.
AND I hate to say it...but we are of a certain age... We need to be active and work on cardio, strength training, balance, stretching, but stay FAR away from the stupid stuff where people are trying to show off and then end up in the ER!!!
But to answer your initial questions, I agree that Dick's is usually over priced. I order alot of things from Amazon but even with Prime alot of weight equipment is $$$ to ship. I buy things at Walmart or Walmart.com, which has pick up and free shipping over $35. Same stuff, just alot cheaper.
My MORE than 2 cents...!

Thanks, I may try Walmart. Nothing crazy, just goblet squats. Which, you are right, could easily be done with a dumbbell.
We can still throw it down as long as we pee first and remember to bring our readers.

Love it and I am ALL for working out hard!! My goal is to be able to bench press my body weight and keep my bone mineral density up...
That said, I try to act my age and use the good sense that I've accumulated over the years. Just because some celebrity says they do a certain exercise, diet or program doesn't mean that it's healthy for me...if you know what I mean! Injuring myself while showing off doesn't increase my personal worth any more...but then you have more testosterone than I do so maybe that's not the case for you..lol!

So I went shopping today for the first time in awhile. I was never a big shopper before surgery, but I decided to go and see if I could find a couple new work outfits and some summer attire to wear on my vacation next week. I've always been a size 24 in tops and a 26/28 in pants. I couldn't believe my eyes when I actually fit into an 18/20 top! Haven't been that size in years. Probably since I was a teenager. I was also able to fit comfortably in a 22/24 pants and one pair was actually a bit baggy on me. So this definitely gave me a boost of motivation.
B: premier shake
L: some string cheese and turkey
D: Going to a family cookout, so not really sure. Probably fish of some sort and definitely veggies.
S: Fruit or light and fit yogurt
Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!
