What's On Your (Monday) Menu, RNYers?
on 5/6/19 4:05 am
Good morning - I don't see a thread so I'll get us started! I've got a jam packed day so might not get back on line until evening.
It's definitely a monday, after having a terrible time sleeping last night, I finally just gave up about 230 and got out of bed. The coffee cup below kind of tells my Monday morning attitude!
QOTD - Deb's question yesterday on magic menu prompts my QOTD -- what is something you eat post WLS that you wouldn't have tried before? For me, it's the carbmaster cottage cheese! I love the stuff now, wouldn't even have considered it previously.
Accountability - staying on track but I'd really like to see if I can get down to 130 so I'm going to move back to under 1K calories a day/under 20 carbs and see how that goes. Might be possible, might not.
Menu:
Loads of coffee and half & half plus and water and tea
B - 4 oz ever roast deli chicken, 1 slice sargento cheese
L - 4 oz ever roast deli chicken, 1 slice sargento cheese, 10 blackberries
S - carb master cin raisin cottage cheese
D - 4 oz roast beef leftovers
991 calories, 111 protein, 17 carbs
Ex - hitting the new rec center today for 30 minutes rowing and some weights; plus I need to put my new manual push mower together and cut the grass (unless it rains)
Have a fantastic start to the week all!

Mornin' All!
Looks like we're in for a rainy morning - hope it'll clear up later as I'd planned to take the bus over to campus, have more passport photos taken, and hang around for at least a couple of hours before heading back home (I had my passport renewed last summer, but now I need a photo for my visa to go to India. I can't imagine that I would have tossed out the pics I had taken last summer, but I have no clue where they'd be - I've looked everywhere I could think of where I might have put them!! Oh well..). Other than starting to get stuff together for this visa, nothing on the agenda today.
QOTD: protein powder for one. I still drink a protein shake most mornings for my mid-morning snack, and there are a handful of things I still add protein powder to to bump up the stats. Also, even though I've always eaten yogurt, I eat it A LOT more now. Every day, at least once. Sometimes I even eat it for dinner...
3 years 11 months out:
B: homemade coconut Greek yogurt with 1/3 mango, coffee with half & half
MS: protein shake
L: if I'm home, 2 oz rotisserie chicken on a Flat Out with light mayo, tomato, and lettuce
AS: protein pumpkin pie
D: pulled pork
have a great day, all!!
Oh my gosh- that mug cracks me up. Happy Monday!
QOTD: I don't eat them very often but jerky and pork rinds are something I had never eaten in my life.... and had no desire to. I can only do the softer jerky- Krave and Turkey Perky.
Many faves rotate- but I couldn't have predicted the amount of protein powder I consume. I have higher protein needs than most- large person (5'11") - bodybuilding- plus I did have to reverse muscle wasting.
I think the tendency to overly strive for a lower number when within a normal or almost normal weight range is misguided. I highlight the "overly strive"... I only found out I had muscle wasting accidentally because I went for a series of Dexascans. (Bodyfat testing) Basically the last 20lbs I lost was all muscle. And just to show you how misguided focusing only on a number on the scale can be- my lowest BF%- 22% and my highest in maintenance- 30%, I was at exactly the same weight on the scale. I still have trouble wrapping my head around that.
I hope the bunny hole my post fell into doesn't offend anyone at worst but makes you contemplate a few things at best. I have been working both mentally and physically for over 2 years to reverse this. And it wasn't just about eating more protein. I had muscle wasting eating minimum 100g a day.
Eats:
- protein coffee
- overnight oats w/protein
- spinach frittata, lite rye
- roast chicken, veg, sweet potato
- S: protein, protein pumpkin muffins, watermelon
ex: active recovery- light gym day.

Good Monday morning all!
Jen - where do you get these mugs? They are one better than the other. If I were ever at your house, I would have a hard time choosing one for my morning coffee.
Good relaxed weekend. Didn't do much. I actually had time to go shopping for some summer clothes. I was looking for a jumpsuit type outfit. There was one polka dot that I liked on the rack but they had only size 2. I kinda laughed and went to look at something else but the sales girl insisted I tried it on. Low and behold, it fit. Admitted, it was kinda stretchy material but a size TWO?!?!? I ended up not getting it, the pockets kinda stood out because obviously the jumpsuit was too tight but I was so impressed with myself. I got a summery maxi dress and a wide leg mid calf romper. It is so much fun shopping when things fit you and you don't hate yourself in the mirror.
QOTD: pork rinds. I had no idea what they were before I did AMAW. It's not something I would eat on a regular basis but when you have a munchie attack it's OK.
Accountability: Fri horrible, Sat & Sun spotless.
My meals for the day:
- Coffee, coffee, and more coffee
- Eggwich
- Shredded pork
- Tuna & hb egg
Have a great start of the week, everybody.

Good morning~ It's definitely Monday - rainy and yuck. I have an appt with my PCP this morning which means new lab orders. I never thought I would look forward to having blood drawn but I do now, lol. I have felt run down and over anxious lately. I really enjoyed a nice and relaxing weekend and did almost nothing yesterday but chill and watch Netfix. 'Dead to me' is great by the way....

Good morning,
I need that cup that's the way I feel too. I started coughing on Friday and it's getting worse. My friend told me to rub Vick's on me, it broke it loose open during the night so I didn't get much sleep then when I got up, my ear I can't hear out of it again. I put a call into the specialist and waiting for them to call me back.
Yesterday I went to Red Lobster and I tried lobster tail. I loved it and high in protein. I have champagne taste on a poor mans budget.
Qotd I probably would of never tried protein shakes even though I hardly do them now.
B ham omelette, forgot to put the cheese in it and string cheese
L tuna, cottage cheese and honeycrisp apple
D leftover from red lobster, shrimp, sausage, asparagus and coleslaw.
Have a good day
Monday, Monday. It's Monday!!! Hot diggity. Only 2 more Mondays and I'm done (then I'll have 4 Tuesdays, but that's okay)
QOTD: I've tried Farro (loved), Barley (loved), Ameranth (didn't like), high protein pasta (didn't like), no sugar added blue bunny ice cream (unexciting, threw it away), Halo Top Ice Cream (unexciting, threw it away), collagen which has been great for my arthritis and a whole list of things. I've learned to zoodle better, rice cauliflower and Southwest Protein Blends (Bird's Eye or Green Giant) are marvelous. Breyer's Carbmaster Ice Cream in chocolate which is actually good with a drizzle of sugar free Hershey's chocolate. So many things. I actually like pork rinds which I would not try pre-surgery. Cru**** up and make "fried" chicken. Wouldn't eat jerky, love it now. Spicy foods??? Still don't like.
Accountability: Good, staying on program although I need to balance out my macros better but that will probably never happen. Just focus on the protein and healthy veggies/complex carbs.
