Anita Courcoulas - Pittsburgh UMPC Magee

Hi has anyone here had Doctor Courcoulas, i have my first consultation on May 13 and wondering what to expect. They told me i wouldnt see her for that appointment so that is a little confusing as well. Just looking for any reviews and if you had complications.

It's very common to have several seminars, consultations, nutrition appointments, etc before meeting a surgeon. Some surgeons spend only a few minutes with a patient before surgery day. Some spend more time. You'll find a very wide range.

The only time I saw a surgeon initially was at the information seminar. Then I had several appts with nutritionist and physio guy. When it got closer, than I was scheduled to see the surgeon. At that meeting, he answered my questions about the surgery and I imagine, if I hadn't selected bypass already, that too would have been discussed. My surgeon operated out of 2 hospitals so pretty busy fellow and long days, I'm sure. I think some clinics do it this way so that if a patient isn't serious about the surgery, the surgeon's time isn't wasted. I know, seems a little crass but I can understand their point of view too. Once I was improved by insurance, I was scheduled to see him for a pre op appt. All clinics operate differently. Some see the patients right away and others wait, again, I think to be certain the patient is serious about having the surgery. I think over 50% drop out between the informational seminar and when they see the surgeon. The percentages may be better in other places.

Dr. Courcoulas. Did my surgery I had my surgery back in Feb. 2017 She and her staff are wonderful. dr. c is very professional and yet friendly I felt very comfortable with her.

I have no complains And have had no complications

also Magee hospital staff are great make me feel safe and they took great care of me!
