BTW what types of nursing did you do? My mom was a nurse for 45 years and did peds, ICU/CCU, management, teaching for RNs, LPNs and finally worked as a school nurse.

I've done geriatrics, emergency (ER & as an EMT), OB and NICU. Now I joke that emergencies for librarians don't involve people not breathing!! I'm spoiled to not work all nights, holidays and weekends any more!

My mom was a nurse too! Luckily, being trained in a hospital school of nursing, I got to try out lots of jobs working as student in the hospital after classes. As a nurse, my longest specialty was cardiac step-down. I've also done out-patient hemo-dialysis, wound care, long term care/rehab and ending as assistant director of nursing services, spanning 40+ years. Miss it terribly!!(except nights, holidays and weekends )

I will always remember the first Christmas I didn't have to work because "everyone else has kids!" And 12-hour nights for years was a complete misery! I miss it sometimes though...never a dull moment!

Yep, I OFTEN love coffee more than some people...

high school: grocery store cashier, department store clerk

college: department store clerk, convenience store clerk, keypunch operator (remember those computer keypunch cards?), data entry

other jobs: lifeguard, graduate assistant, career counselor, residence hall director, various IT jobs, librarian
