Whats on your (Photo) Friday menu, RNYers?

Good morning menu crew! My company (LinkedIn) has dedicated "InDay" days every month where we can take 4 paid hours and do something in the community or with teammates that fit the theme of the month. April's InDay is today and the theme is environment, so some of my coworker friends asked if they could come help in my garden! They want to learn what all I do to get ready for planting, and they will help with a couple projects like clearing out weeds this afternoon.

the bad part is, we had a last tease of winter overnight and it's only 32 degrees and WINDY today, so I'm not sure how well we will be able to do the planned projects. I woke up to my greenhouse being overturned by the wind, despite being anchored down, and all of my kale and Brussels sprouts plants are gone (I thought I might salvage some but the poor babies were too mangled), and the plastic on the greenhouse was tattered. I will be buying store bought kale and Brussels sprouts plants this year. At least my tomatoes and peppers weren't out there yet.

Qotd: I read every day, and on gloomy days I sometimes read ALL day. I've always loved to read, I had my nose in books my whole life.

Menu:

breakfast: coffee, slim fast caramel latte

lunch: salad bar

dinner: unknown--depends on if we still have company at the house, so we might spring for pizza. If we're all grubby we won't want to go out anywhere. I'll keep to the wings if we do that, I'm really trying to re-focus on my eating.

Photos of greenhouse devastation, and of my tomatoes and peppers safe and sound under grow lights.

Oh, that is disappointing!! It will show your co workers some of the real challenges of being a gardner in the plains states -- wind and hail strike without warning:(

Exactly! I'm just glad it wasn't all of my plants yet (too early for everything else to be outside, but the brassica family is cold hardy) and I'm not snobby about buying transplants and "cheating" lol.

SO sorry about your greenhouse! That is really disappointing. I'm always glad when things like that happen that I'm not dependent on my garden for all my food or else I'd starve!

Kale and brussel sprouts are definitely a shame. Love me some kale and brussell sprouts. On another note, I know someone (sorta kinda) who also had Dr. Nandepati as their surgeon. I just thought it was amazing I remembered that but Nandepati is definitely a different name.

Good morning~ I had a great night sleep, I don't remember waking up until my alarm and that is incredibly rare. I'm at work and I forgot to bring more k-cups so I am SOL on the coffee front. I'll make this quick so I can run out for a latte, tea is just not cutting it right now..

QOTD - Yes, I LOVE our library. I've always been a regular especially while DS was growing up. We didn't have cable and we could borrow DVDs, CDs, you name it and any book, paper or magazine under the sun. I don't go as often anymore, but I love being able to look at all the books they make me happy! I am partial to the classics and collect them. I love bookstores too, I am partial to cookbooks there and I have a collection that I love.

Accountability -ugh, the last protein bar I will ever have, ever.

B- almond milk latte, tea is not working for me... L&F greek yogurt

l- turkey meatballs

d- eggs and bacon

es fro yo

Have a great day!

Really?! Grew up eating famous Hadley asparagus, corn and onions, small world! Not sure of her age, but I assume she is familiar with Interskate 91? Good times in the 80's
