Mornin' Weekenders!

We're headed back to Chicago today so I can see the surgeon tomorrow. I'm not sure if these angry-looking incisions in and around my arm pit are normal or not, so I'd rather just go in and see him and be sure. No sense wondering and worrying about them when we can just take a quick trip down there. Plus, DH really wants to go to Chicago today since the weather is so nice. We booked a room in the city this time - near Loyola University - so we can do a lot of walking around this afternoon and evening.

Accountability - we went out for pizza last night because I HAD to get out of the house - I'm feeling very trapped in here. I'm hoping I can start getting out more this week, although I'm still not driving - maybe by the end of the week? I think it was 10-14 days before I was driving after my LBL (although that didn't include arms, of course...). I'm nine days out as of today, so hopefully soon. Anyway, I didn't go crazy on the pizza, but I still went over my calorie limit - but weight was OK this morning.

QOTD: anyone??

3 years 10 months out:

B: homemade Greek yogurt with fruit, coffee with half & half

MS: protein shake

L: rotisserie chicken and 2 T hummus on a Flat Out wrap

AS: on the road - maybe another protein shake? Or cheese stick and turkey jerkey?

D: we'll be in Chicago so at some restaurant. Something protein-forward for sure

have a good day, all!

Im glad you all have the flexibility to make those arrangements to be in Chicago as needed. Hopefully the incisions are not infected.

My run is done for today-- less than 30 days till my next race, a 10 miler. Today I need to buy some groceries. I bought some snapper to prepare for dinner. And accomplish everything I didn't get to yesterday. Weather should be nice.

217 today, 3.11 years out

m1: egg, cheese stick, 3 turkey sausage and fried plantains.

m2: Greek yogurt and berries and protein bar

m3: bourbon chicken chunks

m4: snapper

From what I've read here on OH, small issues with the arms seem to be the norm, but the doctor should be able to assess and make sure all is okay. I'm glad you are being careful!

Accountability: Great on day 6 of being on the meal plan wagon

3 year post-op - post maintenance, trying to lose regain.

Always lots of coffee...

B: Eggs, cottage cheese and Canadian bacon

L: breakfast casserole (https://www.obesityhelp.com/articles/instant-pot-breakfast-c asserole-recipe ), made in microwave vs. IP (came out great)

D: Light Maryland crab cakes (https://www.myrecipes.com/recipe/maryland-crab-cakes-0 ) and spinach salad - I've been making these for many years and love them. I use panko instead of bread crumbs and WAY less on the outside than the recipe calls for.

S: cottage cheese

re: arm issues - it sort of makes sense that that's an area that might cause PS patients problems. For one thing, it's next to impossible to keep them perfectly still (even with getting dressed, they're getting some movement). Also, friction - my arms pits are constantly rubbing up against my abdominal binder, or when it's off, my sides. Also, arm pits are moist - probably not the best environment for speedy healing. Plus, I'm dealing with that rash. Ugh. The scars on my breasts and sides seem fine - it's just the damn arms!

You know, if I ever had plastics and was going to pick one surgery, it would be my arms. I hadn't thought of those possibilities though.

Have a great day and rest of the weekend.

Things continue to be discouraging. I'm having a full-fledged pity party for myself. I didn't post yesterday, mostly because by the time I got home, it was late and I was pooped and in pain. That's why I'm having a pity party. I got this surgery to get the weight off my back and joints and I feel even though my weight is where I want it to be, all of a sudden, I'm back to square one because it just hurts so much to walk or move or do anything. Then there is the slow heart rate and wearing a monitor so the doc can figure out where I'm really at which is tired and forlorn. To top it off, my IBS with constipation (sorry for TMI) is horrid because I'm taking oxycodone for the pain. I may never go again and my blue eyes will be brown (yes, more TMI).

QOTD: Mine and probably no one else's, but you can run with it or not, do you ever have days where you flat just don't want to eat anything? What do you do? Follow your body's message or eat?

Accountability: Mine is more about yesterday since I didn't fess up yesterday. I ate crap, pure, unadulterated crap and then on top of that, because I really don't feel like eating at all, I was 400 to 500 calories below my goal. You know what I had for lunch? A bag of Fritos, grapes, nuts and cheddar cheese. It wasn't even yummy. Now, I will say, it was kinda planned. It was one of those days where you are completely out of any routine and I knew I would eat a few things that really were off-plan and I wasn't upset because I knew that would happen. I know there will be times when you just don't eat right and as long as it is very occasionally, it's okay. I did ok in the afternoon, I had brought some healthy snacks which I ate about 1/2 of. Then, I pulled back into town about 6:30ish and knew I wouldn't cook supper. I also was still in the I don't want to eat anything mood. I decided to eat at a Mexican restaurant in town. They have a lighter side menu and I got the grilled chicken (easily 3 meals for me), subbed out Spanish rice for refried beans and a salad. It's pretty healthy, the meat is always tasty and I love salad and refried beans. Of course, they bring the chips while you wait. I usually tell them not to bring the chips but did I yesterday. Oh, no! Did I just eat a few? Oh, no! I stuffed my face with a slider food. When my entree came, I asked for a to go box, not because I knew I would never eat the entire meal and would take leftovers home for another meal but because I could eat none of it. I was filled up with those oh so healthy tortilla chips.

I am disgusted with myself. I could have done better at lunch by simply leaving the house 30 minutes earlier and getting chicka fila grilled nuggets and a salad and taking it to the meeting yesterday. I thought of that solution, today and it's a standard solution for me, usually. Of course, the solution for last night was to not have gotten the chips at all. REMEMBER LYNN, you are a binge eater and a food addict!!! I got my due punishment. My tummy felt disgusting all night!

Lesson learned, I hope so!!!

So today, I'm back on track at least I am so far. I have not been a fan of Quest Protein Bars until lately. I still don't like a lot of them, their texture is funky to me. But, I discovered (long story and we all know I'm wordy) I liked birthday cake and then I found I like the raspberry white chocolate one and so I decided to try the blueberry muffin ones. Apparently, I like the fruity flavor ones. I did retry the cookie dough one, it made me gag. Weird. I tried a bar while I was at Walmart then got a box.

B: Coffee with Collagen, Breakfast Burrito

MS: Blueberry Muffin Quest Protein Bar

L: 2 oz grilled chicken, 1/4 C. refried beans

AS #1: Dannon's Light & Fit Yogurt, Jack's Links Extra Tender Beef Jerky

AS #2: Iced Protein Coffee

S: Pork Chop (2 1/2 oz if I figured it out right), 1.5 oz cauliflower mashed potatoes, 1.5 oz yellow squa****sp blue bonnet light margarine

ES: Built Bar, Coffee with Collagen & reddiwhip but I still need to eat something, I'm about 200 calories short of where I need to be. Maybe some pistachios. I get the ones with shells cuz they take longer to eat. However, the idea of eating all this food makes me queasy.

I would give you the calorie breakdown with macros but since I'm not sure about the evening snack, I may have to come back later to edit and finish.

Have you tried baking the quest bars?? My daughter likes to cut up the cookie dough one and bake it. Like cookies, 350 for 10-12 min. I can't handle the quest bars because of the sugar alcohols. But if your craving something sweet, they are good.

I have not ever heard that before. LOL, I might not want to do that. If they taste too good, I'll eat too many of those. It's funny how we are all so different. I might try that in the future.
