let your surgeon know what's going on. It could just be that you're progressing too quickly with your food, or you could be getting a stricture. If the latter, they should be able to do an upper endoscopy and stretch the stricture out at a local hospital. I had two strictures - one at four weeks out and the other at eight weeks out. They usually appear in months one - three (they're very rare after the third month) - so you're in the right time frame for it, if that's what it is. I'd just contact your surgeon's office for starters and see what they think.

I'm sorry you've experienced such a rare complication; strictures are much more common than Candy Cane Syndrome so the OP shouldn't immediately assume that is what she has. She needs to get proper medical evaluation and diagnosis by a bariatric specialist/clinician.

Christy2544: Why have you responded in ALL CAPS? It is coming across as if you're yelling at us, so it has been received negatively.

It may be a glitchy thing. I had a post that was half caps and I went back in to edit and it was the way I typed it but then when I went back out of edit, it was caps again.

Be careful with Dr. Google. Remember that it might return the most common answers (or the most talked about) and don't self diagnose.

As far as your surgeon being eight hours away: Not sure how rural (or not) you are but many times a doc or two will work directly with your surgeon. So you have a local set of eyes who can speak doctor-language. Have you been seen for this at all yet?

Because no matter how many of us weigh in, your best bet is still going to be a doc who can see you in person and talk to you.

Hope you find your answers and feel better soon.

Contact your surgeon's office. They will probably tell you to go to the ER of a particular hospital, probably where you had the surgery so that the emergency personnel are aware of post-surgery, RNY or sleeve. At least, that's what they told me when I had problems. I was over a year out though. Be sure you are tracking all you are eating. It may be your tummy is more sensitive and you need to slow down food progression or other problems but your surgeon will know more about it and if needed, order the necessary diagnostic tests.

I'm sorry, when I responded I forgot about the 8 hour thing. Still, call the surgeon's office. He/she should be able to refer you to someone much closer. Don't let this turn into an emergency, emergency.
