Quick post to get us started. More sanding and painting today here at Hillsboro Missouri UMC. Accountability was fair yesterday. Lily and I didn't get to walk as far as we'd have liked as we ran out of light but got as many steps in as we could. Weight today 124.6. Did not get 100 ounces of fluids in so thats still a struggle. Lily and I will take at least 2 short and 1 long walk if the rain stays away today. No coffee yet so feel free to add QOTD. Heres the food for today B2/3c earnest eats pro hot cereal L 4 oz deli turkey and cheese 3 baby carrots D 4 oz burger with cheese S string cheese and yogurt at break time. Doing fine moving snack to during the work day. It's just too hard to resist the food when everyone else is eating. Need to get off here and start waking hubby for work. Have a great day full of smart choices everyone!

I have little problem at home but when I'm working at a project--even though I have my drink right there with me--I just forget to drink. I'm a work in progress!

Morning all! Another warmer day here in DC that I plan on enjoying. Today is my birthday so I'm taking the afternoon off and going for a massage and then have a run at one of my favorite spots, Lake Artemesia. Also going to a special annual event on Saturday at the local colonial farm (Accokeek across the Potomac River from Geo. Washington's Mt. Vernon) that includes lots of baby animals and fun stuff.

In very sad news, DW doesn't remember that it's my b-day. Don't know if it is the dementia as such or just that she is so out of touch that she doesn't know what day it is. Deep breath and trying to take care of myself.... We did go to the local library last night and get a library card for her so that she can use the online resources, check out books and maybe attend some groups so that she gets out of the house. We'll see whether she follows through.

Accountability: yes, I will most likely have a few bites of cake today but I will save the carbs for something worthwhile and not just every bit of sweets out there.

Menu:

B: coffee, DD turkey sausage wrap

S: Chomps

L: turkey breast on the way to my massage

S: maybe more turkey

D: ?

Exercise: a nice run at the lake

Edited to add my birthday picture from 2010:

Thanks Karen! Yes, I look and feel so different! Also the gardening is MUCH easier when I'm carrying around 130# less! Fewer aches and pains afterward!

Dementia is a horrible, devastating, heartbreaking disease. In the later stages, it's much worse for family and friends than it is for the patient. Several of us on here know exactly what you're talking about. My heart goes out to you....

Yes it is. Grandmother had it, my dad did and a couple of friends. I worry about it for myself since there is a family history. It is sad to see the changes and I've always felt worse for the family because the patient is so unaware or at least, I hope they are. It would be horrible to know your mind isn't right. It's a struggle.
