Hi guys,

thank you all for your great replies. I had to be readmitted to hospital on Tuesday. I was completely depleted of electrolytes. Potassium seemed to be the culprit, but they loaded me up on phosphate and other good stuff.

Back home now, I'm 8 days post-op and feeling like a million bucks... sipping lots of water and premier protein shakes and concentrating on recovery.

Cheers!

I'm glad you're doing better. Keep drinking! I drank Powerade Zero almost exclusively that first year. Lots of electrolytes. My doc actually told me to add extra salt to my food.

LOL, wish mine had said add extra salt. I love salt. I was hoping among the tastes changed with surgery, my liking of salty food would be one of them. No such luck. My sister used to accuse me of "snowing" on my food. I try to do better but still, love my salt shaker.

I had my surgery four years ago and 3 years in my blood pressure fell below a hundred and dipped as low as 61/42. I've had multiple hospitalizations, and developed an arrhythmia which brought on chronic a-fib that I had to have a cardiac ablation over.

It took 9 months and just last week they came to the root of my issue, it is called Hypokalemia aka low potassium. It was caused in me by a combination of malabsorption. My dietary potassium would not be absorbed and would just pass through my urine.

I too would get light headed, pass out, experienced constant fatigue. I recommend you get a blood panel done ASAP to see if your potassium and magnesium levels are ok.

Good look, Rich
