What's on your Thursday menu,RNYers?
Mornin' All!
thanks for getting us started, Karen! Today I have a dentist appt at 8:00, a coffee social at 9:00 that I"m probably going to skip so I can go to.....a class at 10:00! Massage this afternoon. Our adoptee actually texted me last night to see if he could come over today. Wow! He used to come over all the time (often spent the night on our couch as well), but since he's met some other Turkish grad students, he's more-or-less disappeared, which I have mixed feelings about. But anyway, I'll pick him up after my massage appt. Not sure what we'll do, but it'll be nice to have him here again.
accountability was good yesterday - back up to 150.2, though (after happily being under 150 yesterday - 149.6). Oh well...it's likely just fluid. Hopefully I'll dip below 150 again - and stay there!
3 years 9 months out:
B: protein pancakes with plain Greek yogurt and homemade blueberry sauce (no sugar added), coffee with half & half
MS: protein shake
L: deli turkey slices
AS: light yogurt with raspberries
D: leftover Turkish food (probably lentil soup and some chicken in walnut sauce in a Flat Out wrap)
ES: if needed, same as AS
have a great day, all!
Good morning from the rainy Mid-Atlantic!
Jim, your QOTD is hilarious - I am super curious if any of the menu regulars follow NCAA basketball! I live with a SPORTS-OBSESSED man. Mostly football, but he follows every Michigan basketball game as well and when the NCAA finals start, he's all of a sudden busy watching all the games. Michigan plays tonight at 9 so I already told him if he's watching it in the bedroom, he's wearing his headphones! He has plans to watch all day Saturday. Fun, fun. I have the BEST Saturday plans. I'm taking the two girls (and one of their friend's who will be here for the weekend) to a CAT CAFE in DC. You pay $22 a person (it's a donation to the ASPCA) and you get to go in and spend 70 minutes petting all. the. cats. I seriously cannot wait. It's a surprise and I think they will love it! We will also shop and walk and eat downtown :)
The eats today at 5 years and 3 months out:
B: 4 oz boars head ever roast chicken 1 oz cheddar, 2 oz avocado
L: salad with crunchy vegetable mix, boars head buffalo chicken (look at me! I'm crazy, trying a new flavor!), munster cheese, sugar snap peas, garlic expressions dressing
D: Cincinnati "Skyline Chili". Cincinnati chili is so weird - it's sort of watery and the only vegetable is onion and it has cocoa powder, and weirder yet, it's served OVER noodles and ALONGSIDE oyster crackers (I skip both of those) but Kris and his son love it so I make it with ground turkey occasionally for Kris and then his son has it over the weekend.
E: My own personal strength training session at the gym with one of my gym pals. It's a good one! https://www.popsugar.com/fitness/Weight-Training-Women-Dumbb ell-Circuit-Workout-33387231
Have a great day, everyone!
Cincinnati people are die hard Skyline Chili fans! This is the recipe I use. But Kris claims that it has to be more watery so I add a bit more chicken stock. It's really like 15 spices, some chicken stock and tomato sauce. (And I use ground turkey since I don't like beef) https://www.geniuskitchen.com/recipe/skylike-chili-skyline-c hili-copycat-110548
Happy Friday-Eve... well it is my Fri-YAY since I'm taking a few vacation days. Karen, thanks for starting us today-hope you have a great day.

good morning my friends!
I've been thinking lately about how much I love fashion and putting together outfits and accessories and generally just getting ready and I love watching people's videos on youtube about fashion hauls and seasonal fashion "look books" etc...I am always curious to see people with similar body shape/size trying on different types of clothing so I can get an idea of what it might look like on my own body (especially clothing from online retailers) but although I follow a lot of WLS patients on social media, and a lot of fashion and beauty bloggers (both straight sized and plus sized), I have not really found any massive weight loss people that are vlogging about fashion, which is what I feel like I need to see! I want to see someone putting together outfits that flatter a body with lots of lumps and loose skin LOL!
So, long story short, I think I want to make a Vlog devoted to this genre. It might be a small niche in the youtube/instagram community but I wish there was someone else out there doing this, and I made a post in a couple of Facebook forums I am on about it and got an overwhelmingly positive response...my DH is super supportive too and he wants to back me up on it. The problem is I am not very tech savvy and I have zero knowledge on video editing or what kind of equipment I even need. I know I need a good camera along with filming equipment and obviously some kind of video editing software, but I also need someone to teach me LOL. I feel like this is something I am SO Passionate about and it is kind of a dream of mine to be able to do this, and I actually feel confident enough now that I could make it successful...maybe not be able to make a monetary living from it but it would fulfill a need in me that I've been searching for my entire adult life.
anyway, if any of you have any tips or pointers or know anything about making videos for social media content please chime in with any info!
QOTD: I have almost zero interest in sports whatsoever so I am definitely not in any NCAA pools LOL. we don't even get cable so we can'****ch anything live on TV regardless haha.

D: not sure--some leftovers we need to get rid of, either chicken curry meatballs or turkey italian sausage w/kale & sweet potato
ES: L&F greek yogurt & pretzels
Have a great day everyone!
