'm about 17 months post op. I swear to God my memory has gone kaput. I used to be soooo sharp before my surgery. I couldn't even remember my alarm code today. What is going on?!! Anyone experience this?

Taking all your vitamins? Had all your lab tests done in the last year?

B vitamins or iron are a likely culprit. Neurological symptoms are not always temporary, so you should get them checked stat!

Seconding this. When my iron is very low, I become very forgetful and definitely experience cognitive problems.

I have these problems and I have had my labs done and everything is in line. I tell all of my doctors but none seem concerned. I don't have an answer but I do experience it. So at least there is one other person out here that does not think your crazy.

Was your Ferritin tested? If so, what have your levels been pre and post-op?

I don't have an answer for you about that! I guess I should get ahold of these.

No- you are NOT crazy. I am really worried because I used to be so sharp that people would comment on my memory. I want it back :(

Please, please, please do NOT take your doctor or nurse's assurances that your levels are "in line" as proof that your brain function is safe. Too often they think a B12 of 200 or Ferritin of 10 are ok, when they very much are not!

You should have these levels at your fingertips when someone asks you.
