So very true. When I was bigger I thought everybody at the gym was staring at me. Lo and behold they are all looking at themselves in the mirror! They couldn't care less about me.

Good morning,

Im so tired this morning. I stayed up too late last night. I'm trying to get my house in order for my inspection on Monday.Between working some crazy hours this week and tomorrow I have a training class all day doesn't leave much time for me. Sunday is my day I go see my dad.

I had a spoonful of peanut butter last night otherwise I was on plan since I got to eat my regular lunch yesterday.

Qotd I was always on the go as a kid but it changed when I became an adult.

Then the year before my surgery I joined the gym, I would do the nustep machine and swim. After surgery, I started walking slow around my apartment and going to the gym and I started using the treadmill. Then I had changed insurance so my membership wasn't covered so I started doing walk away the pounds and walking. I was faithful of doing exercise five days a wee****il last July. Now I haven't been able to get it back into my routine. But I did sign up for the gym last month with my friend but with weather conditions and she not wanting to go, I haven't been yet. I just need to go by myself I guess but I thought if I had a Accountability partner it would be easier for me. My surgeon does recommend exercise even if it's just walking. I've been really struggling with exercise even though I know it's good for me.

B ham and cheese omelette and string cheese

L tuna and cottage cheese

D rotisserie chicken and whatever vegetable they will serve at support group tonight

Have a good weekend

Good morning~ TGIF for real, ya'll! I have a lot of things I want to get done this weekend and I'm hopeful that we can get it all in. Rob is so excited to use his new truck for a few dump runs this weekend - it truly is the little things, lol! I'm helping Jess rearrange his room better, a much needed pedi, car wash, shopping, cleaning and St. Patrick's Day is Sunday so those traditions - Irish coffee, corned beef and cabbage, watching the Quiet Man, all low keys fun - yay! Jess is doing better, in fact since we got the new car for him, I literally haven't seen him, haha. Last night he stopped by after we were in bed for a shower and headed back out with his friends -I'm glad he is getting out.

QOTD - As a young kid I was active like other kids did but as I got heavier and to the teen years I would avoid it like the plague because I would get overheated and turn bright red. I have exercised sporadically all my adult life and the first year post WLS I was a machine, but I am back to sporadically again. I keep waiting for life to settle down - it has been one thing after another the last few years. I feel spent most of the time and the first thing to go exercise. I do walk regularly, but I don't count it unless its a good hike or a substantial distance. I always say when things settle down and I will make time but the truth is I just need to do it.

Accountability - pork rinds again. I have them to avoid eating crackers or pretzels which are always calling my name. I know I should stop buying them but they have saved me many times. I need to plan for them or time my meals and snack better. It's only been an issue since we moved, it used to be a rare occurrence.

Kelly, I feel the same way. I'm embarrassed to show my feet in a pedicure place.

Afternoon! Just flying by so I can answer your workout questions, but I'll throw up my menu as well for the heck of it.

QOTD:

1) Before surgery (including as a child, young adult) were you active or athletic?

Athletic - not even a little. I shied away from all sports because I was a giant clutz. I did grow up on a farm so I spent a lot of time walking/wandering around the woods and probably got a lot of steps up through age 15 or so.

2) When did you start being more active after surgery? Did your surgeon encourage exercise?

I started brisk walking at 2 weeks post-op, and weight lifting around 9-10 weeks post-op, and then running 4 months post-op. As part of my pre-op process I had to meet with a PT who talked to me about my plans to exercise post-op, but there was literally no follow-up on that. Honestly, the whole interaction was terrible because when I told him my plan was to start out walking and I'd figure it out after, he was condescending and suggested resistance exercises that a person much larger and older than myself would have found easy to accomplish.

3) What kind of activity do you do now and how often?

Right now I'm doing a running program and that includes 4 runs per week. In addition to that, I get another 6-7k steps walking per day and I do kettlebell/HIIT/body weight work 2 days per week. I also throw in the occasional Yoga (I was going a lot but my schedule changed and it's harder now).

4) What motivates you to get out and do it or what do you struggle with most?

I honestly just LOVE running. It's been motivating to find the Another Mother Runner and Fit4Mom communities that have shown me that you don't need to be running a 10-minute mile to be a runner. Once I figured out that I could run at my own pace instead of killing myself for a specific baseline time I figured out I could run and enjoy it during and not just the after "high" that comes with it. I also enjoy Yoga. The other stuff I just mostly do because it has an impact on the ease of running and it's important for bone health.

My Food:

  • Avocado Toast w/ 1 Egg
  • TBD on lunch, we are low on groceries. I may need to have another egg.
  • Steak w/ Broccoli
  • Nuts, Yogurt, Apple w/ PB

QOTD: I swam a lot as a child but living in SW Pennsylvania means 3 months out of the year. Prior to WLS I always did some kind of class through our local community collage. They are non credit and they hold them at the local high school wether it be Zumba or aerobics it was $5 a class 2 x a week for about 10 years and I did curves for many years. I always found exercise a stress reliever. After surgery I continued with curves for the first 5 months but as my ability increased I found myself needing something more. Lucky me there is a planet fitness near my home. They have different classes throughout the day they have burn strength and stretch class I do Tuesdays and Thursday and Monday and Wednesday I do a little cardio and add in an arm and a leg workout on the Machines. I get a lot of support from the trainers there ( usually young boys). And I met a few women who I've really bonded with and we in courage each other. So I have to say I've always been active but now I am jump higher run faster and lift Stronger .

I use to roller skate competitively in elementary school but not much after I went to middle school 2) When did you start being more active after surgery? I started walking as soon as my surgeon allowed me to. Started with a mile here and there. Did your surgeon encourage exercise? YES! 3) What kind of activity do you do now and how often? A combo of running/elliptical and stairclimber 4) What motivates you to get out and do it or what do you struggle with most Honestly, fear and addiction but that's a whole novel :)
