MadisonRose is right, because the surgery cuts nerves, it takes a bit of time for all the "feeling" (ie restriction) to come back. The nerves and everything else need to heal which is why you need to stick to your plan (and also measure). If you didn't get a plan/can't find it, you may want to call and check with your surgery center.

Also, while you're on soft/purees, the world according to eggface blog is great for ideas.

I'm really surprised that you are actually feeling hunger. I had my surgery 2/12/18 and I still have no hunger. I believe that you are dealing with "head hunger" not actual hunger. I've always been told the way to tell the difference is if you are craving a specific food that is your head not your body. I'm not sure if they told you but the nerve to your stomach was cut and you will probably never have the same full feeling you had before surgery. Even at over a year out for me I've tried a small amount of pasta and a small piece of garlic bread and been in misery. For me if I eat too much, even a bite too much or eat too fast the pain is incredible it feels like I'm having a heart attack.

My program was 2 weeks of liquid, 2 weeks of pureed food and 2 weeks of soft foods. Recommended 60g of protein and 64+oz of water and less than 600 calories. Most people aim for less than 25g of carbs. Weigh and measure all of your food and track it in My Fitness Pal or another application or just by hand. It really is the only way to be accountable.

Please get help and be kind to yourself.

I had my surgery about a month ago. I also had gastric bypass. I too am struggling.

Before the surgery, I eat mostly at night after dinner between 8pm until I go to sleep. I would just never get full or satisfied. That was my routine every night. I didn't know what to expect after the surgery. I thought the cravings will magically go away and I shall never be hungry again...NOT!!!

I am experiencing the same issue with not getting full. I've questioned it whether maybe the doctor didn't do it correctly because my cravings are there and I'm hungry, specially at night. But...guess what? yesterday was the very first day (on the 25th day after my surgery) that every time I ate a meal, 3 bites afterwards, I felt full. I didn't finish my oatmeal for breakfast coz I felt full. For lunch, I couldn't finish my turkey lettuce wraps either. I wanted more after 3 bites so I tried a couple of more bites and it almost made me sick at work. I remembered my doctor said to walk it out or jump a bit to dislodge what's blocking in the chest, luckily that worked. For dinner I made cauli rice w/ almonds and brisket. I was hungry and forgot to eat slowly. I ate 2 big bites and was super sick. I experienced the dumping syndrome for the first time. Yuck!

Today my stomach is acting the same thing as yesterday. I'm easily full again. My husband thinks maybe it takes about a month for the procedure to finally work and I think he's right. Maybe my stomach had to heal completely and now the gastric bypass is finally doing what it's supposed to do. So give it time.

Also...When I have cravings at night I have sugar free jellos and fat free whipped cream in the fridge. Very low calorie so I can eat 4 servings, be satisfied and still be safe.. plus it counts as water consumption.

I love soups! Chicken soup, Hot and Sour soup, Egg drop soup, Tomato soup, creamy soups. It's hot and it will make you feel good.

Eat 2-3 scrambled eggs. High Protein. You can even put chopped onions, tomatoes, low fat cheese, chopped tiny pieces of ham.

Cottage cheese. Add salt and pepper, or stevia or crushed pineapples or peaches.

Yogurt. Yogurt. Yogurt.

Good Luck and for now refrain from eating carbs and foods not easily digestible. Let your stomach heal please.
