How to handle being away from the gym?
Actually there was a team of surgeons that preformed my surgery and they have been doing this repair for years. My brother had this done like 15 years ago so I knew who I wanted to do it. I made my appointment a year in advance to guarantee I would have my surgery close to one year of my RNY surgery. I am fortunate to be in one of the best Health care Networks in the world UPMC out of Pittsburgh Pennsylvania. My company carries the premium health coverage with very little out of pocket expenses. My brother had the surgery he was probably 250 lbs when he had it and it has held together even after ballooning up to over 400lbs.
These surgeons are amazing I did have a little infection near the T of my pelvis and where they tried to make a belly button so I have 2 wound cavities I'm healing up now. I have sold wound care for the last 22 years so I'm privy to the best product at my companies cost. They did release me back to my desk job after 4 weeks.
I hear you about the binder friend I actually found one new in the box at a good will for $1.50 so I have 2 for now and it only comes off to shower.

I really responded to your situation, and am so happy for you. I know how excited I was to restart my pool therapy time and continue walking after my last recovery!
PS that binder was a DEAL at $1.50, out local surgery store had them for $17. I bought a 2nd one so I could wash/dry the one the VA gave me, but love my Maidenform 'sorta-spanx" and have 6 of those.
