Long limb RNY
Hi there! So I had fully intended to have the loop-DS this month. Unfortunately, my insurance threw me a curve ball and decided to deny my surgery. They will approve a traditional DS or my surgeon is recommending a long limb RNY. Has anyone had the long limb RNY and would be willing to share their story?

Why do you not want a traditional DS or RNY? Will your insurance cover a long limb RNY? Most times insurances will not cover a surgery that is considered experimental.
I think long limb RNY is also known as Distal RNY. From what I researched in the past, distal RNY can be possibly the second worse WLS (first is a lap band). It can cause the same issue as standard DS but with worse that DS for vitamin - minerals absorption. And since the pyloric valve is by-passed, and it can cause severe RH, dumping, etc. etc etc.
I had RNY (normal -proximal) and I think DS would be too drastic for me, but i would rather have that than distal RNY.
Why do they think you need distal RNY?

I think standard is 150. But every doc is different.
