Morning all! Back to working from home Mondays and Fridays and very happy about that!

Well if you can call this work!

I spent alot of time over the weekend working on my online class instead of baking. Good that I don't have lots of sweets "needing" to be eaten but I also wanted to make some doggy treats for some furry friends. Oh well.

QOTD: I reached my goal weight (Normal BMI for my height) in 7.5 months by being very strict with food and exercise. I kept losing for a while but added in some fruit & fat and have stabilized about 5-8 pounds below goal. I occasionally think that I should lose a few more pounds but my total body fat content has been between 16.7 & now 19, so losing more would really be bad for my health. I am pretty vigilant about weighing most days and if I start to approach 120, I really knuckle down. I know that there are never guarantees for the future in life but by sticking very close to high dense protein and relatively low carb and exercising regularly, I plan to maintain where I am.

Menu:

B: ham & coffee

S: turkey breast

L: Arby's roast beef, baby carrots or salad

S: protein shake, Chomps

D: ?

Exercise: class with trainer in gym

Good morning Daisy and Menu crew. Great busy weekend for us as well. A couple of inches of snow on the ground this morning.

We received some good news regarding Ryley on Friday. He works for the local ChickFilA while attending College. He applied for a scholarship and was awarded a scholarship. They invited friends and family of the recipients as well as the news and will surprise the recipients this evening. The scholarship is a one time $2500 and they are eligible to apply yearly. He will be very surprised. We are so proud of him, he works very hard. He is planning on Studying abroad during the Spring 2020 semester and is putting his plan into place now. It looks as though he will be going to Berlin Germany. His course plan has already been approved. Exciting times for him.

QOTD - If I listened to those around me I would not try to lose more weight to get to my goal of 195. I choose to be at that weight. I have lost 16.4 lbs since January 2nd. It has been a slow yet steady process and it is due to weighing, measuring and logging my food. UVM just completed a weight loss study and the number one contributing factor to weight loss " Write it, if you bite it". Log all food. I am 6.6 lbs to my goal. Flying to Florida on 04/16. Hoping I can get there by then.

B - Egg salad

L - Salami and cheese

S - Ham roll and pork rinds/ranch

D -chickfila grilled nuggets

E - night off.

Mike, you are doing so well! I know that you have fought with the regain and only you can know where you need to be, of course as long as it's healthy!

Congrats to Ryley! How wonderful! I had to work while earning all of my degrees and it really can be hard to keep all of the balls in the air. I know that you're very proud of him!

That is SO exciting for Ryley! You must be a proud dad! Studying abroad changed my entire life - it was the single best decision I have ever made!

Also, great job on losing 16 lbs in two months! That is BEAST! You are kicking ass. It's so hard as we get further out from surgery and you are killing it!

He is very excited and I hope it continues to progress and fall into place for him. Where did you study abroad?

Thank you. I am trying to give myself some credit, and keep attributing my loss to the poor weight management plan I had in place prior to this.

I went to Toledo, Spain (just outside of Madrid) on a three week exchange in high school and that opened my eyes to the fact that there were other parts of the world that were different! And interesting! And fun! And old! And just all around amazing. So I committed to continuing to study Spanish all through high school and college and spent 6 months studying in Sevilla, Spain. I lived with a phenomenal family, which meant I was really immersed in the culture (I am sure if I were in a dorm with other Americans it would have been easy to just hang with Americans). I took my classes at their University (which was challenging, but awesome) and I even failed a class lol. BUT, the people I met, the way I was able to improve my Spanish, the weekend trips we took...overall it was the best experience of my life! Even the times that were tough, taught me that I can overcome anything and I can turn a negative into a positive. I am still friends with people from that experience - and actually, I am going out to eat with a friend from my study abroad program who lives in Baltimore tonight! I hope Ryley also finds it to be incredible. I literally don't know a single person who has ever said, "oh I studied abroad, but I didn't really like it". Ryley will learn to ride the subway, take trains, stay in hostels, translate, do quick exchange rates in his mind, and he will be exposed to people from all over the world! I was in Berlin last year for work and it's an amazing, huge, cosmopolitan, diverse, awesome place. I am excited for him!

You should give yourself credit - you had a poor maintenance plan in place and you course corrected and look at you now! I need to course correct as successfully as you did!
