With you on the sugar...luckily it's not a trigger for me, but I wish I'd never "tested" my sugar tolerance, which is pretty low before I get to dumping also

Good morning. Cassie, I have always admired how frank and honest you are. I am sure that it would have been a lot easier to just skip today and rejoin the post tomorrow. I'm glad that your friends took care of you.

QOTD: Good question. This is a generalization, but I think that the longer people have failed with on again off again weight loss prior to surgery the more adamant they are to stay away from sugar forever. You could see that in Au Contraire's post on the ice cream flavors the other day. Since surgery, I have had two chocolate covered strawberries (dark chocolate on one occasion and milk chocolate on one), one dark chocolate pillow square, and a few airplane biscuits. I don't think that I know whether I dum*****t, but I do know that the milk chocolate strawberry made me immediately want more milk chocolate. There is no middle ground for me on candy, ice cream, cake etc.

I haven't had alcohol since surgery but I haven't cancelled my wine clubs either. No cigars.

As recently as Thanksgiving, I couldn't really eat any white carbs without discomfort, but that has already changed. After talking to my NUT the other day I am limiting to one protein bar per day or they are going in the trash.

I have popcorn at sporting events or movies but even though thats empty calories it doesn't bother me as much as the sugar because it is usually a one -off thing whereas the sugar will just compound on itself.

Breakfast: Turkey meatballs and cottage cheese

Snack: Protein Bar

Lunch: Panera (probably soup and half salad)

Snack: PB Fit and apple

Dinner: Beef lettuce wraps

Have a great day, all!

I'm glad sugar isn't a trigger for me, but the popcorn absolutely is and I can eat the whole movie theater bucket by myself still if I'm not mindful. Yeesh!

white carbs make me feel bloated and gassy which is mostly just embarrassing so I'm usually able to convince myself to pass on them...

Protein bars are a REAL trigger for me. One problem is that most of them sub the sugar for sugar alcohols which make me pray for death! They are SO handy and the high protein is very tempting. And the worst part is that they are marketed as so healthy and they really aren't! Had to stop buying them and sub in Chomps or string cheese.

I'm the same way with protein bars and any "sweet treats" like Halo Top. They taste delicious at the time but send me on the hunt for the real thing. So they are rarely in my house. I really have to watch sugar alcohols as they make me nauseous and gassy anyway.

Whenever I eat a Chomps I am reminded of you and whenever I eat an Ostrim meat stick I am reminded of Chris.

I can get the Chomps at Trader Joe's instead if ordering online. Also they don't have lots of carbs and the protein is decent. Certainly a better option than alot of things.

Morning all! Cold and dreary here and calling for snow and wintry mix. Been out and done my errands yesterday and early this morning and now sitting in my recliner with my laptop and a cat...and more coffee.

Cassie, I am so sorry that you had that experience. I hope that you learned from it and are able to keep from doing it again. And LOVE the hair!

Yesterday was a busy day with lots of running and driving but in the evening I finally sat down with the laptop and started my online personal trainer course. I'm really excited about it and hope it works out to be a good thing!

Accountability, had a pistachio short bread cookie from Whole Foods yesterday but otherwise was on plan. We ended up stopping for dinner at a new taco place near home and they have either fish or shrimp tacos most days. It was good and I skipped the tortillas but I think next time I'll modify the add-ons a bit--no mayo and sub it for tomillo salsa (yum!). Not very busy so I hope they stay in business. BTW is it still a fish taco if I don't eat the tortilla?! LOL

Menu: ran out this morning with coffee in hand and no breakfast...not a good idea for me. I do much better if I have small regular meals to keep from getting too hungry.

B: Lactaid cottage cheese, raspberries, slivered almonds & MORE coffee

L: salmon & tuna sashimi

S: deli turkey breast

D: sirloin steak and fresh asparagus

E: probably will be a slug!
